Race 2A (Rosehill) – Open newly turned 3yo handicap – 7 furlongs. Purse = AUD $85,000. 11:00 PM EDT Friday
#1 Land’s End (4/1 ML) appears to be the most talented one in the race, gets a reasonable draw in barrier 5, and won his debut like a good thing. On limited data it appears that the Fastnet Rock sire/Galileo dam is a successful nick, having produced Epsom Oaks winner Qualify this summer in England.
#2 Kimberly Star (3/1 Favorite) has won her last two races by open margins and has two races in her past 6 races that have her as the fastest horse. The is the biggest threat to the top pick.
#10 Craklin’ Rosie (25/1) is very well bred for Australian racing (High Chaparral is a high-class route sire that does not get many fast two year olds, much like Curlin’s sire record in the USA) and has finished closely in some photo finishes, including a strong speed figure over a mile in April. Big value play.
