PARX Race 7, 5 1/2 furlongs Claiming $16,000 3L (3:07 ET)
Best Value Play: # 2 Kelly’s Ridge (8/1)
Most Likely Winner: #3 Big Blue Nation (5/2)
Other Contenders: #1 Prospero (5/1), #8 Proud Valay (7/2)
Analysis: Big Blue Nation collects a lot of paychecks and has a good consistent string of speed figures, plus takes a drop in class. Propsero had a decent run at this level earlier in the month and faced much tougher out west. Proud Valay has been banging his against the wall in starter company and now gets restricted lifetime conditions. Should improve in here. Kelly’s Ridge is a question mark being off a year but has a trainer that does well with layoff runners and will get a leading jock for the trip.
PARX Race 9, 5 1/2 furlongs Claiming $7,500 4L (4:01 ET)
Best Value Play: #6 Whateverworks (15/1)
Most Likely Winner: #1 Darn That Trip (7/2)
Other Contenders: #10 Girl Wando (5/2) #11 Dustin’s Magic (8/1)
Analysis: A very tough race with Darn That Trip looking to be the best of the girls. She ran well enough to win in the last two, both at a higher level than today. Girl Wando was claimed a couple back and notched a win on the class jump. Looks like the new barn tickled her fancy. Dustin’s Magic claimed in last and immediately rested. Sometimes that is a bad sign but this barn is a killer with layoff runners and horses claimed. Whateverworks gets a high percentage rider and runs for a high percentage trainer. Has shown plenty in her last seven races and speed figures say she can win.
