 Churchill    Race 3,   7 furlongs Claiming $15,000 (1:47 ET)

Best Value Play: #3 Thirsty Thursday  (8/1)

Most Likely Winner: #5 Don’t Slip  (8/5)

Other Contenders: #2 Golden Jason (2/1), #7 Yankee Scholar (10/1)

Analysis: Don’t Slip looks to be a turf runner but drops in class, takes the blinkers off and his pedigree doesn’t seem to exclude a dirt surface. Amoss usually knows what he is doing and he puts his money making pilot aboard. Golden Jason drops all the way from Grade One company and has an unknown rider. Still, it is first time tag for colt. Yankee Scholar does not look like a winner but he can’t be left out of the exotics. He plods along and may do enough here to complete the bottom part of a ticket.  Thirsty Thursday comes from Tampa after a good freshener and has a couple of useful works. The distance should suit him fine and his top effort gives him a chance to upset.

Churchill  Race 9,   7 furlongs  Optional Claiming $62,500 (4:59 ET)

Best Value Play: #7 Malibu High (8/1)

Most Likely Winner: #8 Gold Element (8/5)

Other Contenders: #1 Cozzetti (3/1) #6 Bold Choice (6/1)

Analysis: Gold Element has hit the board a dozen times from 14 starts, posted excellent speed figures and run well against the best in Texas and Oklahoma. Cozzetti is another tough customer that showed he was stakes caliber on turf last year. He ran against tough ones at the SPA in the summer. Bold Choice has found himself lately and likes the main track in Louisville especially if dry. Malibu High runs for the Borel combo, drops from stakes company after a layoff and sports some good works. Broke his maiden last year at Churchill and could be a good price.
