Woodbine Race 3, 7 furlongs $25,000 (1:49 ET)
Best Value Play: #6 Silver Shasa (10/1)
Most Likely Winner: #7 Movision (7/2)
Other Contenders: #5 Very Cheery Candy (8/1), #8 English Holiday (3/1)
Analysis: Movision gets the most productive combo in Woodbine’s recent history with Husbands and trainer Mark Casse, a return to polytrack plus a drop in class. Very Cheery Candy seems to be a totally different horse over the last two races and should fit well at the distance. English Holiday also runs for Casse and get the other top jock the trainer uses. A return to polytrack is a plus for this one. Silver Shasa invades from Fort Erie after a stakes appearance. His past races on polytrack were not good but those were as a juvenile. Looks to be a different horse at age three.
Woodbine Race 7, 7 furlongs Allowance 1X (3:55 ET)
Best Value Play: #5 Khulna (20/1)
Most Likely Winner: #1 Lennon (2/1)
Other Contenders: #2 Kitten’s Candy (5/2) #3 Johnny La Rue (6/1)
Analysis: Lennon comes in fresh with speed on the rail for the Callaghan crew. Don’t be surprised if he gets the jump on them and wires the field. Kitten Candy will be staying as close to the lead as possible and is capable winning this one for the killer combo of Da Silva-Tiller. Johnny La Rue will be a few steps behind the leaders but could get first run if there is a meltdown on the front. Trainer Reade Baker sends out Khulna with his old comrade Jim McEleney to ride. Lightly raced in 2013 and has finished in the money in two-thirds of his career races, Khulna may collect all the goodies from off the pace.
