Woodbine Race 5 5 furlongs Optional Claiming $20,000 (3:07 ET)
Best Value Play: #11 Spanish Academy (12/1)
Most Likely Winner: #6 Bella’s Rebel (4/1)
Other Contenders: #3 Silent Love (8/1), #9 Refreshingmemories (3/1)
Analysis: Bella’s Rebel goes for the tough combo of Fairlie and Rainford, ran well last time and will be in the mix early. Silent Love is one of two for trainer Bob Tiller’s uncoupled entry and, in typical Tiller fashion, is a major threat because it is her first start of the season. Refreshingmemories is the other part of the Tiller entry and looks to fit at this level well, plus she keeps Contreras in the irons. Spanish Academy has several negatives, but this old mare returns after a big rest and has worked consistently for two months. She will not be a participant early and that will be to her advantage if the pace is warm.
Woodbine Race 7 6 furlongs Allowance 2L (4:10 ET)
Best Value Play: #9 Lady Do Good (8/1)
Most Likely Winner: #3 Virreina (5/2)
Other Contenders: #1 Gia Scala (3/1) #2 Duppy Conqueror (4/1)
Analysis: Virreina belongs at this level, is always knocking on the door and Wilson stays aboard-the only rider she has ever known. Gia Scala is another Tiller trainee making her first start of the season and Contreras gets the call. Duppy Conqueror returns to battle and keeps Husbands. If they fall apart late she will be the stamina horse to have. Lady Do Good had a little gate issue in her return and comes back after a blistering work. The DePaulo-Stein combo is one of the most dangerous in Toronto.
