Saratoga   Race 5,   6 1/2 furlongs   Claiming $12,500 (2:13 ET)

Best Value Play: #2 Oltre’ Oro (12/1)

Most Likely Winner: #4 Bet the Power (6/5)

Other Contenders: #7 Noble Doss (5/1), #9 Star of New York (4/1)

Analysis: Bet the Power has tallied a dozen career wins and looks to be the best by far in this field. He was claimed from last by the Maker/Ramsey duo and drops immediately, something that team does often. Noble Doss was another claimed from his last race by a trainer that does well at the claiming box. He also comes back after a rest and looks like he makes a last minute commute to Saratoga-a sign that he is ready. Star of New York goes for his twelfth career victory and an opportunity to crack the half-million dollar level in earnings. Oltre’ Oro comes back after a freshener for one of the best trainers in New York. He will be tough if he returns to his old form at higher-class levels.

Saratoga   Race 9,    5 1/2 furlongs Turf    Optional $62,5000   (4:29 ET)

Best Value Play: #6 Persnickity (12/1)

Most Likely Winner: #7 Spectacular Me (7/2)

Other Contenders: #3 Hinder Bay (6/1) #9 Iroquois Girl (3/1)

Analysis: Spectacular Me is in top form, loves sprinting at the SPA and is hard to ignore when you notice a dozen career wins on her resume. Hinder Bay is in good form and posted a huge number in her last race, plus, she left a trail of fire on the track after her workout just over a week ago. Iroquois Girl has defeated Spectacular Me and was closing fast in last. Good workout signals readiness. Persnickity has the coolest name in the race and will probably be ignored on the board despite defeating Spectacular Me back in June. She will come from off the pace and should be in the mix late.
