Saratoga Race 6, 7 furlongs Optional $62,500 (3:55 ET)
Best Value Play: #6 Crafty Dreamer (10/1)
Most Likely Winner: #9 Havana (7/2)
Other Contenders: #2 Juba (8/1), #4 Ocean Knight (2/1)
Analysis: Havana has the connections of Pletcher and Velasquez in his corner. Defeated one of the best in training (Honor Code) last year at the SPA. Had a bad start in last but looks to be ready to pounce on Saturday. Juba drops back to an appropriate level after testing graded stakes competition. Good early speed and a good work pattern suggests he is ready. McLaughlin trainee has taken serious money at the windows and captured a graded event in Tampa. Fresh off a layoff he should be tough. Crafty Dreamer is the old veteran and a past contestant at the graded level. Always post good numbers and should be all in with his second effort after a rest.
Del Mar Race 7, 6 1/2 furlongs Optional $40,000 (8:10 ET)
Best Value Play: #8 Fast and Foxy (8/1)
Most Likely Winner: #5 Pearl de Vere (3/1)
Other Contenders: #7 Discatsonthesquare (5/1) #9 Black Betsy (6/1)
Analysis: Pearl de Vere has friendly accomplice (Talamo) in the irons and can easily stalk a fast pace scenario and pick up the pieces. Discatsonthesquare is a game and consistent performer that rarely has a clunker. Great tactical speed puts her in position after the opening quarter mile. Black Betsy could get away at a good price and can stalk all the speed from the outside, which has been the place to be over the last week. Fast and Foxy has plenty of early speed, which is usually the name of the game out west. This filly looks to be the speed of the speed. It all depends on her early confrontations.
