Woodbine Race 3 1 1/16 miles Claiming $12,500 2L (2:01 ET)
Best Value Play: #6 Online Valentine (6/1)
Most Likely Winner: #8 Craigie Hill (3/1)
Other Contenders: #5 Morning Has Broken (7/2), #7 Storminateacup (5/2)
Analysis: Craigie Hill is lightly raced and goes for one of the best jockey/trainer combinations in Canada. A recent hot work signals readiness. Morning Has Broken has gradually drifted down to this level and will go long with Da Silva aboard. Strominateacup is ready to break out any moment and drops in class. Online Valentine won sprinting after being off nearly two years. The daughter of a Belmont winner may surprise these if she is truly back in shape.
Woodbine Race 5 7 furlongs Claiming $8,000 2L (3:06 ET)
Best Value Play: #14 Shogun Rua (15/1)
Most Likely Winner: #8 Open Ice Hit (3/1)
Other Contenders: #3 Executive Story (10/1) #12 Philego (6/1)
Analysis: Open Ice Hit is a mystery with a big drop and a layoff of more than a year. Still, it is hard to underestimate trainer Ralph Biamonte in this situation, and hard to ignore his horse. Executive Story is lightly raced and seems to be improving rapidly and takes a class drop as well. Philego is probably much better than most in this field and can will easily win with a good ride from Moran. Shogun Rua is a gelding that will probably go off at 20-1 or higher. He will probably be ignored because of the rider, but trainer Norman McKnight has been on fire this meet and this one takes a class drop after getting the lead in much tougher company.
