Lone Star Race 4, 6 furlongs Claiming $12,500 2L (4:05 ET)
Best Value Play: #8 Romeo Delta (10/1)
Most Likely Winner: #7 Hojas (5/2)
Other Contenders: #3 Greeley Express (8/1), #6 Nex Hal Comin (7/2)
Analysis: Hojas runs for a solid barn and returns after an extended freshening. His works look good especially his last from the gate. Greeley Express drops to a tag for the first time and his trainer usually knows how to win a race-this could be the way with this guy. Nex Hal Comin was claimed and promptly escalated in class for a win. Now he drops back to a claiming level. The recipe for success looks good. Romeo Delta won his only race at Lone Star and returned after a layoff to run for a higher tag. Today he drops for connections that do well together.
Lone Star Race 7, 6 1/2 furlongs Claiming $6,250 (5:35 ET)
Best Value Play: #7 Calvert (10/1)
Most Likely Winner: #4 Brilliant Messi (2/1)
Other Contenders: #3 Hyperion West (4/1) #8 Thiscatsatalkin (5/2)
Analysis: Brilliant Messi goes for Asmussen and is in good form, and that is probably good enough to win here. Hyperion West drops in half for successful connections and returns to a sprint. Thiscatsatalkin is another taking a healthy class drop for a trainer that does well when seeking class relief. Calvert ran for bigger money in New Mexico and has caught a couple of off tracks in Texas. Running to his potential in this spot could get his picture taken.
