Belmont Race 1, 6 furlongs Starter $50,000 (12:55 ET)
Best Value Play: #6 Bird Prince (8/1)
Most Likely Winner: #5 Smiling John (2/1)
Other Contenders: #1 Alex the Terror (4/1), #9 Because I’m Happy (5/1)

Analysis: Smiling John looks to be maturing nicely for Bill Mott, comes out of a Special Weight victory and gets into the race because of the first race he ran last year. Alex the Terror was claimed from last and is the son of a Horse of the Year. He has some stakes experience and tactical speed. Because I’m Happy had a big maiden effort at the SPA after a lengthy rest. He is a prime candidate for further improvement. Bird Prince has been in this condition twice, seems to run his best at Big Sandy and he goes for the man named Jacobson.

PARX Race 2, 6 furlongs Claiming $5,000 (1:22 ET)
Best Value Play: #10 Backyard Boogie (8/1)
Most Likely Winner: #8 Nice n’ Sweet (3/1)
Other Contenders: #3 Bellaridge (5/1) #4 M’Lady Penny (9/2)

Analysis: Nice n’ Sweet takes a drop that should do her a world of good. Expect her speed to be more of a factor at this level. Bellaridge has won a dozen races, ships in from Delaware and should be ready to go with her second effort after a layoff. M’Lady Penny has a pretty good resume and she has plenty of early zip one cannot ignore. Backyard Boogie gets an outside post for a good stalking trip. She usually gets bet well and seems to like battle.
