Woodbine  Race 1,   7 furlongs   Claiming $10,000   (1:00 ET)
Best Value Play: #1 Machito (6/1)
Most Likely Winner: #7 True Executive (3/1)
Other Contenders: #2 Gran Bid (4/1), #5 Fighting Chris (2/1)

Analysis: True Executive gets a good post to stalk with his tactical speed, is in good form and has more than enough back class for this bunch. Gran Bid is part of an uncoupled entry with True Executive. This one takes a drop and cuts back a bit in distance, all of which should suit him fine. Fighting Chris doesn’t like the track photographer but usually gives a good account of himself and is fully capable of beating these. Machito hasn’t won in a while but has garnered four runner-up finishes. He loves Toronto and can’t be dismissed.

Monmouth   Race 8,   6 furlongs   Claiming $7,500   (4:10 ET)
Best Value Play: #1 Al’s Best (10/1)
Most Likely Winner: #3 Alpha Dude (5/2)
Other Contenders: #4 Little Tom (3/1) #5 Hereosaurus Rex (7/2)

Analysis: Alpha Dude runs for Jamie Ness, who has one of his top riders back for a return engagement. This one has enough speed to stay close and usually finishes well. Little Tom has dangerous early speed and will make the others earn any award. Hereosaurus Rex runs for a hot barn and has shown improvement since coming to the Jersey shore. Another with good early speed. Al’s Best is a longshot and should be, but if enough of the field wants to play burnout he could be a beneficiary, and on occasion he has proven to be a late threat.
