Monmouth Race 4, 6 furlongs Claiming $5,000 2L (2:19 ET)
Best Value Play: #12 Just Ace (6/1)
Most Likely Winner: #4 Brother Chub (3/1)
Other Contenders: #7 Little Tom (7/2), #11 Yourthekingjimmy (4/1)
Analysis: Brother Chub showed some life as he dropped down the maiden ladder, scored, then was in over his head. Now he drops to a level that should be easy for him. Little Tom has consistently faced similar and will be dangerous in this spot if he can get the lead. Yourthekingjimmy was claimed two races back, jumped into battle with winners and now comes back for a trainer that does very well with second time claimers. Just Ace has been popular at the claiming box and now drops to his lowest level ever after a decent effort on the lawn.
Monmouth Race 10, 6 furlongs Claiming $5,000 (5:26 ET)
Best Value Play: #11 Rasta Friend (8/1)
Most Likely Winner: #7 Jr.’s Chili Pepper (7/2)
Other Contenders: #3 Goodnewswithatwist (5/1) #9 Bama Bound (5/1)
Analysis: Jr.’s Chili Pepper was claimed from last, has good speed numbers from the past and has early speed, all a recipe for success. Goodnewswithatwist bounced a little in last but should come back ready today and the race may set up for his running style. Bama Bound definitely has the back class even though he has fallen off form. But he was claimed by the very capable Jason Servis and the gelding can whip these with moderate improvement. Rasta Friend is a consistent runner with consistent speed figures and it looks like he is ready to move forward.
