Charitable Annuity flies home late to win the West Virginia Breeders’ Classic

Sent off at odds of 5/1, Charitable Annuity was seventh early on as Hidden Canyon shook loose early and was on the engine. Hidden Canyon knocked off a half mile in 47.26 seconds, quick for the bullring style track at Charles Town. Messi from last to first to win the Knickerbocker

Messi passed all eight of his rivals in the final half mile to get up in the final jump and win the $200,000 Knickerbocker Stakes. Sent off at odds of 4/1, Messi was at the back of a pretty tight knit group as even though he was last early on, he was only five lengths behind long shot Cage Fighter ( 3rd Selection). But John Velazquez and Messi started to roll home on the outside and got up to catch Cage Fighter right at the wire, winning by a nose.

Stays in Vegas crushes her rivals in the Surfer Girl Stakes

Stays in Vegas took to the turf beautifully on Saturday as she beat her ten rivals decisively in the $100,000 Surfer Girl Stakes at Santa Anita. Sent off at odds of 7/1, Stays in Vegas ( 3rd Selection) was close up early on in third as Lucky Folie went out to set the pace. Lucky Folie was clear turning into the stretch but as she began to tire she began to run erratically and drift. Stays in Vegas burst on by to get the lead as Mirage had to steady sharply behind the tiring Lucky Folie. Stays in Vegas won by two and a quarter lengths and Mirage was appointed to second after the stewards disqualified Lucky Folie for drifting in the stretch.

In the $100,000 Zuma Beach Stakes it was Dressed in Hermes who passed I’malreadythere ( 2nd Selection) to get the win. I’malreadythere grabbed the lead early on in the one mile turf event and had the lead in mid-stretch. But Dressed in Hermes started to roll late and got up to win by half a length for jockey Gary Stevens.
