BetPTC Horses to Watch – June 1, 2014

BetPTC Horses to Watch are not automatic bet backs but horses to seriously review in their subsequent outings.

Delaware

ANOTHER SURPRISE (Race 2@DEL, May 28, 2014, 7 ½ furlongs turf, Maiden Claiming $20,000) The fourth choice and debut runner was squeezed a little at the start and began the proceedings near the rear. Stayed along the rail throughout the race until the far turn when he was forced to wait behind foes just before entering the stretch. Was still far back when turning for home, began to pick up steam and was then forced to alter course when the front runner jumped the rail. He continued to close with determination, ducked back in along the inside and ran down the leader to win. An exceptional good race for a debut runner considering all of the distractions.

Indiana Downs

ALEXSIETTA (Race 8@IND, May 28, 2014, One mile 70 yards, Allowance 1X) The second choice floated wide in first turn and then proceeded to follow leaders while in the second flight and remained there until the field went into the far turn. She was forced to check and was shuffled back next to last midway in the turn and when entering the stretch she altered course and went extremely wide while near the rear. She began to rally and with less than a furlong to go passed foes with ease. She won going away even after the trouble.

Lone Star

COLE’S MAGIC VOW  (Race 9@ LS, May 28, 2014, 5 ½ furlongs, AOC $18,000) The second choice ran with the second flight until midway through the turn, when he shot passed a rival to his right swung several wide of the leaders while entering the stretch and then let loose with a dominating run, with only mild persuasion, was geared down  toward the wire. Much, much better than foes.

Presque Isle

HUCK’S PARTY (Race 3@PID, May 28, 2014, 5 ½ furlongs, Claiming $7,500) The favorite was away along the rail and checked twice before the field reached the far turn, both times losing valuable ground. He advanced up along the inside again throughout the turn and was then behind a wall of horses at the top of the stretch and looked beaten. After waiting briefly he altered course wide near the furlong marker and closed with speed and determination to win by several and was surely much the best.

Suffolk

MALIBU ICE (Race 6@SUF, May 26, 2014, one mile, Maiden Claiming $5,000) The second choice flipped her rider out of the gate before the race. She was slow to begin and then was wide in the first turn and went wide throughout the second turn while running down the field. Gained lead at the top of the stretch and won with ease, but despite the antics and trouble the easy win was against horrible company (mile in 1:50.48). Don’t be fooled when she faces winners for the first time.

MY DIAMOND GAL (Race 9@SUF, May 28, 2014, 6 furlongs, Claiming $5,000) The favorite was blocked down the backstretch and forced to wait for most of the trip. When heading into the stretch a foe in front bore out and the filly was forced to take up and alter course. She began to run down the leader and had to wait for room due to an erratic run from the leader in front of her. She shot through along the rail at the furlong marker and went on to win for fun by six lengths with little urging. She could have won easily by much more.

Woodbine

STORMIN CLOONEY (Race 7@WO, May 28, 2014, 6 furlongs, Optional $40,000) Longshot ran very well and it was in contention and position to reach the leaders at the top of the stretch, then the favorite bulled in along the rail and forced him to check abruptly and hard, losing all hopes and being shuffled to last.
