Cross Country Pick 4 on Feb. 7th.

by STRETCH

A multi track sequence bet is back and it is worth playing. It is always a little tougher because it is two tracks so you do need to watch both tracks to at least get a feeling how both track surfaces are playing. That being said it is a very playable sequence and I certainly will be playing it. I will post my thoughts and tickets on Saturday morning once I get the scratches.

TAKE NOTE: To play this bet you need to use the X Country Pick 4 (SPL on bet builder)

Post time: 5:28pm eastern

Races in sequence:

Gulf Race#12 This race is tricky because of how the race shape will be. I expect the 9 to try for the lead but he is not good enough to win. The 3 should sit just off and make first run. Class make the 3 tough, but I am not a fan of keying a horse after a huge Breeder’s Cup race. Horse probably won’t be at his best for his 1st start on a three month layoff. If the pace is moderate then it will be tough for the 1,7 to win. Of note the 1 horse which will be either co favorite or second choice has a terrible formulator fact of 1/50 on the trainer winning on the turf in a grade 1. This stat alone says you can’t key a horse like this. If spending some in the sequence this is your spread race.

Gulf Race#13 The 4 could get another good trip as he did in his prep race for this. Incredible acceleration in the last 1/16th of a mile. The 1 and 2 having the same trainer I do not expect them to hook early so the 1 should be nearest to the lead which works well for his running style to try an upset the 4. The rest would need to improve or have 1,4 not run their best to win.

Santa Race#7 On paper the 1 looks best, but paper doesn’t win races. The obvious horse and the talented horse is the 1. Any kind of trip he will be tough to beat. All that said the race looks to easy and when it seems that way, sometimes it really isn’t. I am looking toward the unknowns to upset in here. 3 has the dirt numbers to win but its not on the dirt and pedigree isn’t great. Yes seems stupid to even mention him, I am searching. The others to consider are the 2,4,9

Santa Race#8 There are a maximum of three horses that can win this race, the rest are fillers. The 5 had a nice prep and because of that can beat the 8. The owns this track, will need to run his near top race to win. Will be the over bet horse, I expect. The third choice and the only one that might upset is the 1 and that only happens if the trip works out and the other two do not run their top races.

Here are a few tickets I am playing: 1,2,3,4,7,8/1,4/1,2,3,4,8,9/5,8    Cost: $84
1,2,3,7/1,4/1,2,3/1   Cost $12
1,2,3,7/1,2,3,4,8 /1/5,8 cost $16

Good luck everyone
