Race 7C (Morphettville) – the Darley Goodwood (Group 1) – Purse = Aus $500,000.  2:18 AM EDT – 6 furlongs

This is a GREAT race.  17 horses are entered, many with legitimate Group 1 credentials.  Let’s get to who I see are the main contenders (in order of preference, my picks are 1-12-2-6-5):

#1 Hucklebuck (post 3) ran fast enough to win a Group 1 back in October.  He’ll be first off the layoff today, but he was in a similar situation in October as well.  He’s a grade 1 winner at a mile so I think he’ll be plenty fit.  This guy has had a big reputation and he may just fulfill that promise tonight.  The 9/2 Morning line (ML) is very generous.

#12 Gregers (post 6) loves to finish close to the winner but has lost her last 6 races.  Her numbers put her in the frame but she may lack the edge to beat the colts.

#2 Lucky Hussler (post 11) lost by a head to top selection Hucklebuck going a mile last November.  Today it is hard to say who will be stronger, Hucklebuck or Lucky Hussler.  Hucklebuck drew better in post 3.

#6 Lord Of The Sky (post 15) is the speed of this race and will take them for as long as he can.  He tends to give it up late, so be careful.

#5 Thermal Current (post 4) figures to be aggressively ridden from post 4 and can certainly figure into the trifecta.
