Race 1A (Randwick) – Reisling Stakes (Group 2) – 8:20 PM Friday EST — Picks (5-8-7)

#5 Ottoman wound up chasing Headwater, the leading male for the Golden Slipper (the Slipper is the world’s richest 2yo race) and now gets to take on her own gender.  There is a lot of speed lined up so I hope Ottoman’s jock takes back and makes a timely run.  Fair odds of 5/2.

Race 1B (Flemington) – Festival of Racing (Listed) – 8:40 PM Friday EST — Picks (8-3-6-7)

#8 Heatherly is the speed in here by at least 3 lengths and should be able to control the race to the wire.  Fair odds of 4/1.  The unraced #3 Ready for Victory is probably the most dangerous of the challengers.

Race 2A (Randwick) – Todman Stakes (Group 2) – 9:00 PM Friday EST — Picks (3-5-2)

By analyzing the race fractions of this race’s competitors it looks as if #2 Headwater got it easy on the front end last time and I expect him to get pushed by #5 Furnaces.  This could well set it up for #3 Vancouver, who is undefeated.  Fair odds of 5/2.

Race 1B (Flemington, most likely winner) – Mrs. Mac’s – 9:15 PM Friday EST — Picks (3-4-1)

Afleet Esprit is the fastest final time horse in the race, she has the best race record, and comes out of a key race.  She dominates this race early AND late.  Fair odds of “even money.”
