Race #11 – The New Orleans Classic – 1 1/8 – 5:12 pm

**** Kicks off the $750,000 Pick-Four **** Selections / #2 – Owendale / #1 – Roadster / #3 – Olliemyboy

#2  Owendale makes his 2nd start off the layoff for Brad Cox who scores at a 27% win clip on this move. He is 2 for 3 ITM at FG and gets added distance where he is 4 for 5 ITM. A strong closer in the hands of Florent Geroux should be effective in a slow pace projected race where he’ll come calling at the top of the lane. #1 Roadster comes off a one year layoff for Mike Stidham and John Velasquez. He does well coming in fresh and gets the acid test today. He should be placed mid pack and looks to kick off the year with a solid stalking trip. #3 Olliemyboy makes his 3rd start off the layoff for Norm Casse and Irad Ortiz. This is a big jump in class and owns a perfect 2 for 2 at FG. Ortiz is a great finishing rider and he’ll be looking to come flying late in the lane.

Race #12 – The G-2 Muniz Memorial – 1 1/8 on the turf – 5:43 pm Selections / #5 – Colonel Liam / #8 -Spooky Channel / #1 – Factor This

#5 Colonel Liam hails from the Pletcher barn with Irad Ortiz in the irons. They win 31% as a team and this late runner comes off a win in the Pegasus Cup Turf at GP. He gets Lasix added and turns back in distance. Look for a strong late punch under Ortiz who wins 26% with late running turf horses. #8 Spooky Channel is a late runner taking a hike up the class ladder after scoring in the G3 Connelly at Sam Houston. Florent Geroux in the saddle and his patient style is a plus off a 48 day layoff. #1 Factor This is a speedy runner from the Brad Cox barn drawing the rail under Shaun Bridgmohan who wins 20% with early style runners. 2nd start off the shelf and was beaten chalk last out. He is 3 for 4 ITM at FG and will jump quickly at the break.

Race  #13 – The G-2 FG Oaks – 1 1/16 – 6:14 pm Selections / #6 – Clairiere / #8 – Travel Column / #4 – Li’l Tootsie

#6 Clairiere is a late running daughter of Curlin for Steve Asmussen with Joe Talamo aboard. She turned back Travel Column last out in a very impressive performance with a flawless ride. She is 3 for 3 going this distance and owns some solid morning works moving forward. Joe Talamo stays aboard and should give another good account of this filly. #8 Travel Column is a late runner for the Brad Cox barn with Florent Geroux in the driver’s seat. This is her second start of the year and should improve to make the battle go to round number two for the morning line favorites. Geroux fits like a glove and sports some good morning works. #4 Li’l Tootsie is a lightly raced closer for the Thom Amoss barn with Luis Saez in the irons. She had an impressive maiden win, and her last effort showed she may be special moving forward.

Race #14 – The G-2 – Louisiana Derby – 1 3/16 – 6:44 pm Selections / #6 – Mandaloun / #4 – Proxy / #3 – Run Classic

#6 Mandaloun is a mid pack stalker who can patiently wait and pounce for the Brad Cox barn with Florent Geroux in the saddle. He is 2 for 2 ITM at FG and was impressive winning the G2 Risen Star. Geroux wins 26% with Cox and should be just off the leaders. The works are sharp and he should be a big part of the Derby trail with a top effort. #4 Proxy should be a major pace player for Mike Stidham and Johnny Velasquez. This son of Tapit is maturing and looks to stamp his ticket to Louisville. #3 Run Classic is a lightly raced son of Runhappy and makes the big jump up the class ladder. She hails from the Bret Calhoun barn with B.J. Hernandez in the saddle. That was an impressive maiden win, but he’ll need to kick his game into high gear today. Use in your exotics at a solid price.
