Race 1C (Flemington) – Friday, July 11th, 10:40 PM EDT
#2 ZEBULON (NZ) annihilated the competition when closing wide and winning at Flemington from post 14 going 7 furlongs on June 28th. He beat most of these that day, and gets more distance today – 1 mile. Picks up 5 pounds, but if you saw the race (or watch the replay from June 28th, 2014 R1C), you will know what I mean. This horse had a SCARY turn of foot, and note leading jockey Glen Boss gets on board. He and/or his agent think this horse might be a star. This horse also tops the field on speed figures, so there should not be many anxious moments. 5/2 Morning line, but most likely Zebulon will be 8/5.

6/5 ML Favorite Dig A Pony is being asked to do something she has never done – win at a mile. She IS 3 for 3 big wins at 7 furlongs, but I am going to try to beat her with a shipper – #3 KONA, who comes in for the strong O’Shae/Darley/Sheikh Mohammed team.
Kona has never won going a mile either, but she did win at Canterbury (CAN) going 7 and 3/4 furlongs (1,500m). I think she has been facing better competition, and she might like Flemington’s big, wide turn as well. Also she gets 5 pounds from the favorite, and her speed figures are as good as the favorite’s. At 3/1 or better #3 Kona is a good play.
