Belmont Park Race #8 – The G1 Woody Stephens – 7f – 4:04 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #4 – Complexity / #1 – Honest Mischief / #8 – Hog Creek Hustle

#4 Complexity comes from the barn of Chad Brown with Jose Ortiz in the irons. They are winning 26% together as a team. He’s been off for 7 months since the BC Juvenile where he was bumped soundly. He’s been training over the Oklahoma Training Course at Saratoga and cuts back in distance. This colt looks to benefit from a quick early pace stalking in mid pack. #1 Honest Mischief is a Chad Brown trainee with Javier Castellano in the saddle. He’s been off for two months after an impressive maiden win at Keeneland. He owns a sharp work as they team up to win 35%. He’s a closer and should get a piece of the pie. #8 Hog Creek Hustle is a son of Overanalyze for trainer Vickie Foley. Corey Lanerie always makes a run with him, and this colt should come flying late to light up your exotic payoffs.

Race #9 – The G1 Metropolitan – 1 mile – 4:46 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #7 – Firenze Fire / #3 – Mitole / #2 – McKenzie

#7 Firenze Fire comes from the barn of Jason Servis with Irad Ortiz in the driver’s seat. 3rd off the layoff with an impressive win in the Runhappy at Belmont. He is 3 for 3 with wins and should appreciate the added ground and strong finishing Ortiz in the saddle. #3 Mitole is a speedy son of Eskendreya looking for his 7th straight victory. His win in the G1 Churchill Downs was solid and Steve Asmussen brings his go to rider in Ricardo Santana looking to wire the field. #2 McKenzie is a son of Street Sense with Mike Smith in the irons for Bob Baffert. His 3rd off the layoff move yields a 26% win clip. He is a perfect stalking type cutting back to a one turn mile.

Race #10 – G1 Manhattan – 1 1/4 on the turf – 5:36 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #8 – Bricks and Mortar / #10 Channel Maker / #4 Qurbaan

#8 Bricks and Mortar is a son of Giant’s Causeway for trainer Chad Brown. 3rd off the layoff looking for his 5th straight win. When he won the G1 Pegasus World Cup Turf he found another gear that day. He is 3 for 3 ITM at Belmont and 1 for 1 at the distance. Look for a late rush in the lane. #10 Channel Maker from the barn of Bill Mott with Joel Rosario in the irons. This is his 2nd off the layoff and should be right on the pace. Winning the G1 Man O’ War shows he is in great form and should be right in the mix turning for home. #4 Qurbaan comes from the barn of Kiaran McLaughlin with Mike Smith. 3rd off for the son of Speightstown who ran a game second to the favorite. He should be a little closer with one of the best riders in the business.

Race #11 – The 151st Belmont Stakes – 1 1/2 – 6:37 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #10 – Tacitus / #8 – Intrepid Heart / #6 – Spinoff

#10 Tacitus is a son of Tapit for Bill Mott and Jose Ortiz. He’s as honest as they come and is always knocking on the door. He should be able to run the distance and the outside post will allow him to drop over and settle. He has a nice late punch and a bullet work to show readiness. #8 Intrepid Heart comes from the Pletcher barn with John Velasquez in the irons. 3rd off the layoff and adds blinkers where they win 20% on this equipment change. He stumbled at the start in the G3 Peter Pan as the post time chalk. He’ll stalk the pace and wait for his cue to take off in high gear. #6 Spinoff is a son of Hard Spun for Todd Pletcher. Javier Castellano is aboard and I would toss out his Derby trip. He should be closer than normal and Castellano wins 20% with early runners. I’m looking for an up close trip navigating the sweeping turn for home.

Race #3 – The $75,000 Bonapaw – 5 1/2f on the turf – 2:26 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #3 – Kid Perfect / #2 – Wynn Tale / #7 – Switzerland

#3 Kid Perfect has the services of Adam Beschizza making his 2nd start off the layoff from Churchill. The Angel Montano trainee is 6 for 11 ITM on the grass and has faced tougher. He gets blinkers off and the barn wins 26% on this equipment change. He has the look of a solid stalker who can stay out of trouble and come running on the turn. #2 Wynn Tale comes from the Hugh Robertson barn winning 27% and has Marcelino Pedroza in the saddle. He scored at first asking off a 7 month layoff at Oaklawn and gets a shot at the grass. He won the $75k Thanksgiving Stakes and may step right up and win again. #7 Switzerland is a son of Speightstown for trainer Steve Asmussen winning 29%. His go to rider Ricardo Santana is aboard this speedster and can turn out the lights of left along on the lead.

Race #8 – The $75,000 Blushing K.D. – 1 1/16 on the turf – 4:53 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #6 – Beau Recall / #7 -Take These Chains / #9 – Superiority Complex

#6 Beau Recall is a daughter of Sir Prancelot for the Brad Cox barn winning at a 28% clip. She’s been away for 48 days and switches to a high percentage rider in Shaun Bridgmohan winning 21%. She exits the G2 Goldikova and has faced much better. The drop in class combined with fresh legs make her dangerous today. #7 Take These Chains is a Brad Cox trainee and should show good speed to set up her entry mate. This is her 3rd off the layoff and exits off a win at Churchill Downs. She’ll be up close mixing it up with the pace setters. #9  Superiority Complex is a daughter of Hard Spun for trainer Michael Stidham. “Jersey” Joe Bravo stays aboard and won at Fair Grounds in November. She’s 5 for 7 ITM on the turf, and should get a good stalking trip looking for two in a row.

Race #11 – The $75,000 Sugar Bowl – 6f – 6:20 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #4 – Cajun Firecracker / #5 – Hog Wild / #9 – Super Steed

#4 Cajun Firecracker is a son of Cajun Breeze for the Steve Asmussen barn winning 29%. Santana is aboard and they’ve been away from the races for 50 days. He was a beaten chalk last out and the barn comes back to win 25% on this move. He cuts back in distance and should come from off the pace today. #5 Hog Wild comes in for trainer Vickie Foley with Corey Lanerie in the irons. 2nd start off the layoff and if you toss out the G3 Iroquois he is a perfect 2 for 2. Lanerie fits him well and will come rolling late in the stretch. #9 Super Steed is a son of Super Saver for Larry Jones. Gabriel Saez is the reinsman and exits off an impressive win at Churchill Downs. Jones is winning 33% and scores 25% with his shippers. The barn has been doing well the past two weeks going 3 for 5 ITM at FG.

Keeneland

Race #8 – The G1 First Lady – 1 mile on the turf – 4:40 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #2 – A Raving Beauty / #4 – Crown Walk / #10 – Off Limits

#2 A Raving Beauty is a daughter of Mastercraftsman for trainer Chad Brown. Brown has three entered and his eyes are set on the prize. She was a beaten favorite in the G2 Ballston Spa and has a solid closing kick. I’m dismissing her last effort as a bad day at the office and look forward to the cutback in distance where she is four for seven ITM. Brown wins 26% with turf runners and John Velasquez knows his way to the winner’s circle. #4 Crown Walk is a daughter of Dubawi for trainer Henri-Alex Pantall. She is 6 for 7 ITM on the turf and gets Lasix today. She exits the Gr1 Prix Rothschild and has the services of Mike Smith. She ships in from Deauville and is a solid filly looking to test the waters. #10 Off Limits comes to post for trainer Chad Brown with Julien Leparoux in the irons. She’s a half sister to A Raving Beauty and is an out of the clouds closing sort. She’ll need a quick pace to come calling late in the lane.

Race #9 – The G1 Breeders’ Futurity – 1 1/16 – 5:14 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #8 – Tobacco Road / #5 – Dream Maker / #13 – Mind Control

#8 Tobacco Road has Corey Lanerie in the saddle for Steve Asmussen. Last out in the G3 Iroquois they were bumped around and forced wide. I like the distance progression and 8.5f should be no problem. His dam has 8 starters, 6 winners, 3 stakes winners, and is 75% with two year olds. He’s a closer and should relish the added ground and cleaner trip. #5 Dream Maker is a son of Tapit for trainer Mark Casse with Julien Leparoux in the driver’s seat. He owns a bullet work over the Keeneland oval in preparation. Leparoux knows the oval and Casse has always done well in Kentucky. The final work was the best of 113 runners and that is pretty impressive. I like his chances and the 2nd off the layoff move is a plus. #13 Mind Control is a son of Stay Thirsty with John Velasquez in the saddle. He exits off a win in the G1 Hopeful looking to make it three straight. He sports versatile speed and owns a bullet work at Monmouth coming into the race.

Only 4 Weeks Remain

Race #10 – The G1 Shadwell Turf Mile – 1 mile on the turf – 5:49 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #9 – Analyze It / #11 – Almanaar / #14 – Bound for Nowhere

#9 Analyze It is a son of Point of Entry for trainer Chad Brown. This three year old colt takes on older for the first time and has a solid resume. He is two for two going a mile and cuts back in distance from 9f. He is 1 for 1 at Keeneland and looks to get a perfect stalking trip. Beaten favorite last time out and been off for 56 days. Johnny V should have him in a good spot turning for home. #11 Almanaar is a son of Dubawi for Chad Brown and Javier Castellano. He’s a strong late closer who has been on the shelf for 56 days since running a 2nd place effort in the Arlington Million. Javier Castellano will push the button just at the right time and he’ll come running down the lane. Lightly raced, and his dam Baqah has 3 starters, 3 winners, 1 stakes winner, and 3 turf winners. #14 Bound for Nowhere comes in for trainer Wesley Ward with Julio Garcia aboard. They won the $750,000 Tourist Mile at Kentucky Downs, and those runners have done very well over the lush Keeneland turf. Look for a strong effort.

#12 – Dona Bruja = Ricardo Santanna in the irons and she is 1/1 at Churchill. She is by Storm Embrujado and has 4 starts / 4 wins / and 2 turf wins to her credit. She exits the G1 First Lady at Keeneland and finished a fast-closing 4th. Since coming in from Argentina the mare has relished the turf and addition of Lasix to her regimen. Solid works and a top-notch rider make one of the top targets to chase. #7 – Beauly = Corey Lanerie for Brendan Walsh and they bring a daughter of Sea the Stars to post. She’s been knocking on the door with 3 straight 4th place finishes. Exits the G1 Flower Bowl and drops in class coming back to Louisville. She is a stone cold closer and Lanerie will have her rolling late in the lane. #4 – La Piba = Jon Court aboard for Brad Cox. This daughter of Lookin At Lucky exits a 1 5/16 event at Kentucky Downs and faces a distance that may be more to her liking. The trainer wins 30% on the turf.

Son of Yes It’s True ships back from Seoul, Korea where he ran a solid 4th in the Keeneland Korea Sprint. He has a string of good works coming in and capped off with a bullet over the Keeneland surface. He’ll launch a rally at the top of the lane. #7 – Uncontested = Wayne Catalano trainee exits the G2 Phoenix and is 2/3 ITM at CD. She gets first-time “blinkers off” and Baffert wins 26% on this equipment change. Keeneland

Race #9 – The G2 Fayette Stakes – 1 1/8 – 5:30 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #5 – Honorable Duty / #6 – McCraken / #2 – Neolithic

#5 – Honorable Duty = Corey Lanerie in the irons as he is making his 2nd start off a brief layoff. His impressive win in the Lukas Classic shows he’s ready to get back to work and is 1/1 over the course. The distance should be no problem as he is 3/5 ITM going this far. #6 – McCraken = Brian Hernandez for Ian Wilkes and they are bringing this son of Ghostzapper off a 3-month layoff. His dismal effort in the G1 Travers showed he needed to have a little time down, and a brief summer freshening is just what the doctor ordered. He has a solid work tab and hasn’t seen Keeneland since he was a beaten favorite in the Bluegrass. Look for a whole new runner. #2 – Neolithic = Speedy son of Harlan’s Holiday has been off for 56 days since the G1 Woodward. Look for Robby Albarado to send right to the lead and steal this race for the Pletcher barn.

Belmont

Race #7 – The G3 Athenia – 1 1/16 on the turf – 3:43 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #7 – Off Limits / #10 – Penjade / #8 -Westit

#7 – Off Limits = Joel Rosario in the saddle for Chad Brown and they are scoring at a 33% clip the past few months. She’s been the picture of consistency in 2017 and is looking to make it 3-in-a-row after taking down the G3 Noble Damsel. She is 3/4 over the Belmont turf and going from a mile to 1 1/16 looks to fit her like a glove. #10 – Penjade = Irad Ortiz has the call for Chad Brown and they have been doing good work as a team. She is 4/4 ITM over the Belmont sod and looking to make it four straight in 2017. This daughter of Air Chief Marshall is taking a big step in class but her recent efforts warrant a hard look at scoring at a price. #8 – Westit = Manny Franco aboard this daughter of Tapit as she ships in from France.  She has run on synthetic, turf, and faced the boys many times in France. If the ground has a little cut on Saturday I would give her a good look to complete your exotics.

Race #8 – The G3 Turnback the Alarm – 1 1/16 – 4:16 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #3 – Miss Sky Warrior / #5 – Birdatthewire / #2 – Tejana

#3 – Miss Sky Warrior = Javier Castellano in the irons for Kelly Breen. She’s been away for 5 months since the Kentucky Oaks and her morning works show a filly ready to roll. She cuts back in distance and drops in class and this should make her a major danger. Castellano takes over for Paco Lopez and if her last bullet work is any indication she’ll be tough to handle. #5 – Birdatthewire = Manny Franco teams up with Thom Proctor. She’s coming off a two-month break and has been working very well. She adds distance and Franco did an excellent job in the G1 Ballerina last out finishing 4th. #2 – Tejana = Speedy daughter of Curlin has the services of one of the best speed riders in the country with Jose Ortiz. She’s had a regular work tab and if Ortiz gets loose on the lead he could put out the lights on the field.

Race #9 – The G3 Bold Ruler – 7f – 4:49 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #9 – Seymourdini / #11 – Divining Rod / #7 – Stallwalkin’ Dude

#9 – Seymourdini = Jose Ortiz has the call for Linda Rice, and this son of Bernardini looks to make it four straight. He is 3/4 ITM at Belmont and been improving with every start. This is his acid test for the Rice barn, and she wins 28% of the time off the last race win. #11 – Divining Rod = Daniel Centeno in the irons for Arnaud Delacour and this son of Tapit comes off a game effort in the G2 Kelso. This is his 4th start of the year and cuts back in distance and drops in class. #7 – Stallwalkin’ Dude = Irad Ortiz has the mount for the son of City Place. He finished 3rd last out in the G1 Vosburgh and is 10/13 ITM at Belmont. Ortiz is a solid closing rider and this gelding will benefit from his strong late finishing efforts.

BetPTC.com -Horses to Watch – 4-29-17

Horses to Watch – Ed Meyer

As we hit the 10 day mark for the run for the roses, the starting gate is coming into full view. You need to pay attention to late works, final shipping plans, and how runners are acclimating. In the meantime, here are some runners who need a good look the next time they hit the track. – Best of luck from your friends at BetPTC.com !

Keeneland

4/20/17

Race #2 – #5 – Classy Music – 4 1/2f

Daughter of Maclean’s Music who wins with (21%) of his runners right out of the gate. She was making a huge move along the rail and was squeezed badly at the 1/16th pole. Robby Albarado wrapped her up and cruised home to an easy third for the Ken McPeek trainee. Her works are red-hot and she’ll do much better next time out.

Keeneland

4/20/17

Race #5 – #3 – Caribou Club – 5 1/2f on the turf

Son of City Zip for the Thom Proctor barn. Javier Castellano in the irons and this colt looked really good flying home strongly after the leaders. He was coming off a 7 month layoff and dropping in class from the Laurel Futurity. He’ll be tough to deal with wherever he takes to the turf.

Keeneland

4/20/17

Race #9 – #7 – Pounds to Pennies – 1 1/16 on the turf

Jose Lezcano the pilot for Bill Mott as they brought a filly by Exchange Rate to post. She stalked the entire way and started to pick up the pace at the 1/8th pole. When she jumped to the rail the door slammed shut by the leg weary pace setter Ladies’ Privilege. The inquiry sign went right up and she was bumped up from 5th to 4th. A little cleaner trip has her closer to the winner’s circle.

Keeneland

4/22/17

Race #1 – #3 – Awesometastic – 7f

Corey Lanerie in the irons with this daughter of Harlan’s Holiday. 2nd start off the layoff dropping down in class, and Brendan Walsh scores (20%) on this move. She was rolling just off the pace and squeezed back against the rail. She managed a show spot and the inquiry sign popped up and moved her up a notch. She’ll be tough to deal with next out.

Aqueduct

4/22/17

Race #5 – #2 – Rockford – 6 1/2f

Irad Ortiz in the saddle for Danny Gargan and he did a masterful job of stalking just off a hot pace. He spun 4 wide into the turn and was coming on quickly only to be bested by a “dirty” nose on the wire. – Just inches short of getting his picture taken this day.

BetPTC.com Horses to Watch – 4/11/17

This far down the road I was hoping for a little clearer picture. There are worse things I suppose, but for a horse player the muddied waters of the Derby picture can start you guessing. I was thinking why not try and use this to my advantage ? I need to dig in deeper and find a runner or two that tossed in a clunker. Or, how about a win by the unlikely runner who ran his best to date ? All good examples of finding hidden value. I’m going back over race replays and start the process of finding a fat priced runner who can light up the tote board. With 25 days and 9 hours at the time of this entry there is plenty of time to start building your blockbuster ticket. – In the meantime there is a little window to nail down some winners who may have had a compromised trip or an excuse last out. Either way, value is on the horizon and all you have to do is keep your eyes peeled. – Best of luck from your friends at BetPTC.com !

Keeneland

4/7/17

Race #4 – #1 – Roustabout – 1 1/16

Miguel Mena in the saddle for Al Stall. The Fair Grounds shipper is a son of Harlan’s Holiday and was in pretty tight at the 1/4 pole. Once Mena broke free he was beaten by a dirty nose right at the wire. If he comes back this meet go to the windows with both hands !

Aqueduct

4/8/17

Race #9 – #2 Tommy Macho – 7f – G-1 Carter Stakes

Luis Saez had the call for Todd Pletcher. Trapped on the rail down the lane making his first start in 56 days. Saez tipped off the rail for clear sailing and tried to split runners in the final 1/8th. Green Gratto and Unified slammed the door shut and he didn’t make the gap. An inquiry didn’t help his case, but we saw there was some promise. I think we’ll see big things from this son of Macho Uno this year.

Keeneland

4/9/17

Race #2 – #6 – Our Girl Abby – 4 1/2f

Jose Ortiz in the saddle for Mike Maker. Two-year-old daughter of Majestic Warrior had been training over the poly at Turfway Park. Her dam My Paige’s Jewel is 1/1 with her poly runners. She saved ground and commenced a bid earning the show spot. Look for her right back at the boutique meeting.

Race #7 – #5 – Plueven – 1 1/16 on the turf

Corey Lanerie in the driver’s seat for Phillip Sims. This son of Turtle Bowl was on the class drop and making his bid for the first time in four months. He made a strong move but came up a little leg weary down the lane. They’ll probably target Churchill Downs as he loves the Louisville sod.

Santa Anita

4/9/17

Race #2 – #3- Papaslilprincess – 1 1/16

Bryan Pena had the call and was fresh off the claim for trainer Steve Knapp. She is 6/14 ITM at SA, and was squeezed back at the break costing precious ground.

Race #4 – #5 – Tiz Jolie – 7f on the main

Tyler Baze in the irons fresh off the claim and blinkers off for this run. This son of Tiz Wonderful was making a 2nd start off a one month break and and hopped at the start costing the runner some needed ground. Better things are coming his way next time to the races.

Race #6 – #8 – Rocketann – 5 1/2f

Santiago Gonzalez in the saddle making her second start of the year. She usually dukes it out with Cal-bred stakes runners and the welcome drop to maiden special weight looked good. She was forced three wide on the final turn and may have added to the ground she covered. Maybe a better trip is just what the doctor ordered and we’ll have a runner who can make amends for her last race.

BetPTC.com Horses to Watch – 3/20/17

Horses to Watch – Ed Meyer

As the first day of spring is upon we’re thinking of preps to come, the opening of the Keeneland, and the blooming roses of Churchill only 46 days away.  The 143rd running of the Derby will be here before we know it, and the picture is starting to take shape slowly. – Before the fever hits a frenzy remember there’s plenty of racing to watch and wager, and here are some runners who’ll give you a solid run for your money.  Best of luck from your friends at BetPTC.com !

Turfway Park

3/18/17

Race #3 – #4 – Bell by the Ridge – 1 mile on the all weather

Richard Bracho in the irons for trainer Kim Hammond (27%). They brought a 10-year-old gelding to post who is 11/13 ITM over the TP oval. Bracho tipped off the rail looking for clear sailing at the 1/4 pole and took over the lead briefly before getting nailed on the wire by Twice Mike who loves the course.

Race #5 – #9 – Jersey Chaser – 5 1/2f on the all weather

Eric Reed sent a good looking daughter of Drosselmeyer to post. She had been off for 7 months shipping in from Arlington Park. She made a fast closing effort and may have needed one. – She loves sprinting and is 3/5 ITM at this distance.

Race #6 – #4 – Infinite Midnight – 6 1/2f on the all weather

Son of Giant’s Causeway had not been out in a year after shipping in from Aqueduct. First time gelding previously trained by Chad Brown won impressively on this day. He was dropping from allowance company to condition $25k claimers. Play him right back if you have time before the end of the meet on 4/1/17.

Oaklawn Park

3/18/17

Race #10 – The G-2 Rebel Stakes – #8 – Silver Dust – 1 1/16

Corey Lanerie in the irons for Randy Morse and the field of 11 three-year-olds got a bit tight around the far turn. At the 3/4 mark this deep closer had to tap on the brakes and wait for room. The son of Tapit was making his second start of the year and appears distance should not be a problem moving forward.

Gulfstream Park

3/18/17

Race #7 – #6 Illmatic – 6f

Nik Juarez in the driver’s seat and was coming off a 55 day vacation from the races. He was bumped soundly leaving the gate and far back in the field. He moved off the rail at the 1/4 pole for clear sailing and was wide making an eye-catching run for next time out.

Race#9 – #5 – Casby’s Kid – 1 1/16 on the turf

Luis Saez in the irons for Jorge Navarro (22%). Son of Girolamo was making his first start in 59 days. The barn wins (35%) with maiden claimers and scores (20%) with turf runners. – He was rank and hard to control on this day and forced to check off heels while making a bid. We’ll excuse this effort as he was working out the bugs for good things to come next out.

Rain, bitter cold, and sub zero windchill’s covered many ovals this past weekend. – It never stopped the mailman, and the horsemen always try to put on the show. When the winds start making that five degree night in the minus zone and rain holds court in areas that see little to no precipitation. Thoroughbred racing is at the mercy of Mother Nature. – Rest assured, the rain and cold won’t last forever and you’ll be seeing a full compliment of red-hot racing action soon.  In the meantime, here are some runners you’ll be waiting to see hit the entry box as they’ll offer up some good value at the windows. Best of luck from your friends at BetPTC.com !

Gulfstream Park

1/7/17

Race #3 – #4 – Summer Luck – 6f on the dirt

Javier Castellano in the irons for Mark Casse. A solid daughter of Lookin at Lucky had her first start in 57 days. She was bumped at the break and checked back shortly after. The good news is she managed to get it all together and turn in a very impressive 3rd place effort. She was turning back from a mile at Churchill and this race may be sign of good things to come.

Race #4 – #2 – Shiraz – 7 1/2f on the turf

Paco Lopez in the saddle for Mike Maker, and they brought a son of Tale of the Cat to post. It was his second off the layoff shipping in from New York and he checked off heels losing his action. The upside was he still managed a show placing after getting a tough trip.

Race #5 – #4 -Expedition –  1 1/16 on the main

Javier Castellano in the driver’s seat for Todd Pletcher. This son of Pioneer of the Nile bobbled at the break and got back on path down the backstretch. He was in a striking position to make a run and appeared to call it an early day. This was his 2nd lifetime effort and he should improve for the trainer next out as the barn is known for getting all the bugs out ready to roll.

Race #7 – #7 – Something Awesome – 7f on the dirt

Corey Lanerie was in the saddle and his mount was making his 1st start in 55 days. He shipped in from Woodbine and came rolling 7 wide late with very good energy.

Race #8 – #6 – Inflexibilty – 1 1/16 on the turf

Joel Rosario in the saddle for Chad Brown. They brought a daughter of Scat Daddy who was a first timer coming off a solid work tab at Palm Meadows. She was bothered at the start and this took her mind completely off business. Brown will have her more focused as he wins (25%) on the turf.

Race #9 – #7 – Bellavais – 7 1/2f on the turf

John Velasquez was aboard this filly making her first start in 59 days shipping in from Aqueduct. She was hammered in and threaded the needle at the top of the lane. At the 1/4 pole she tipped off making her run when an opponent struck her with a whip across her nose. She jumped a shadow and tried to bite the other horse. – The good news is she won by 3/4 and will only get better from here.

Race #1 – #4 – Sturdy Allen – 6f on the main

Belterra shipper under Ty Kennedy and they gave a perfect stalking trip only to be squeezed at the top of the lane. This may have been their undoing  and deserve a good look next time at the races.

Race #7 – #4 – Sky Wonder – 6 1/2f on the main

Corey Lanerie in the irons, and he had his mount in perfect striking position and fanned five wide into the stretch and showing good late kick.

Race #10 – #13 – Shelbyville – 1 1/16 on the turf

Javier Castellano in the saddle and he held close to the rail the entire trip. His filly looked in good shape and when the field swung a little wide at the top of the lane he guided his mount even closer to the rail. She hustled and looked solid, but her efforts and perfect ride came up a but empty down the lane. If she heads to Florida or New Orleans, keep track of her as she is getting ready for a top effort.

Race #5 – #4 – Nana Looch – 7 1/2f on the turf

Indy shipper was squeezed at the start and taken up. She settled under James Graham and mustered a late rally to get bested by a nose in the shadow of the wire as a beaten chalk.

Race #7 – #1 – Jus Kevin – 1 mile on the turf

David Flores in the irons, and he gave a super effort aboard his filly. He never left the golden rail and at the 1/8th pole he gave the cue and she responded gamely. This daughter of Mizzen Mast seemed to enjoy the course and is prime for a play back next time to the races.
