Race #4 – The G1 Vosburgh – 6f – 2:35 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #4 – Imperial Hint / #6 – Firenze Fire / #2 – American Power

#4 Imperial Hint comes to post for Luis Carvajal and Javier Castellano.  A few races back he ran a game effort in the Dubai Golden Shaheen and four months later romped home in the G1 Vanderbilt. He should attend the pace from the break and looks to take this race two years running. #6 Firenze Fire is 3rd off the shelf for Jason Servis who is winning 38% at the meet. Irad Ortiz retains the call and scores 29% teaming up with Servis. He’s a closer who loves the oval and Ortiz scores with 22% of his late runners. #2 American Fire is a son of Power Broker for Linda Rice and Jose Ortiz. He seeks his 4th straight win and gets the acid test moving up the class ladder. Minor awards are not out of the question.

Race #9 – The G3 Pilgrim – 1 1/16 on turf – 5:16 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #2 – No Word / #7 – Structor / #6 – Our Country

#2 No Word hails from the barn of Todd Pletcher with Jose Ortiz in the irons. This son of Silent Name (JPN) was ultra impressive in his maiden win after getting bumped and jostled about. Ortiz gave a picture perfect ride that day and his dam Listen A.P. has 8 starters, 7 winners, and 6 turf winners. #7 Structor is a Chad Brown trainee with Irad Ortiz in the saddle. They go to the winner’s circle 25% as a team this year. The barn must be respected as they win 25% with 2nd grass efforts. The major danger. #6 Our Country comes from the barn of George Weaver and Manny Franco is the reinsman. Always brings a strong closing kick and was a beaten favorite in the G3 With Anticipation after stumbling at the start. Weaver wins at a 25% clip with runners looking for payback.

Race #10 – The G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup – 1 1/4 – 5:49 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #2 – Code of Honor / #1 – Tacitus / #4 – Preservationist

#2 Code of Honor is a son of Noble Mission who is 7 for 8 ITM lifetime for Shug McGaughey. John Velasquez gets the call as they are 2nd off the layoff from a brief freshening. His victory in the G1 Travers was awesome and he is a closing type who should spot his place in this compact field of five. Johnny V has been having quite the year and winning this race in the Farish colors should cap off a great summer. #1 Tacitus is a son of Tapit for Bill Mott and Jose Ortiz. 3rd off, and a beaten favorite last out should have this gutsy colt ready to turn the tables on the top choice. #4 Preservationist is a speedy son of Arch who should provide a quick pace. He is 3 for 3 ITM over the Belmont surface and Junior Alvarado will be keen on the lead as the gates break. He is a major threat.  Short but quality field in the JCGC.

Race #9 – The G2 American Turf – 1 1/16 on the turf – 3:37 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Turf Selections / #1 – A Thread of Blue / #2 – Social Paranoia / #8 – Avie’s Flatter

#1 A Thread of Blue has been off two months for the Kiaran McLaughlin barn. Luis Saez in the saddle for this son of Hard Spun. He is a perfect stalker and can take over the lead if the fractions are slow. He is seeking his 4th win in a row and Saez opts for this mount over Social Paranoia. #2 Social Paranoia is a son of Street Boss for trainer Todd Pletcher. His first start of 2019 was super impressive and switches riders to Manny Franco. He is 6 for 6 ITM lifetime and a big effort may be on the agenda for this late running colt. #8 Avie’s Flatter is a son of Flatter for trainer Josie Carroll. He is looking for his fourth straight win exiting off an impressive win in the G3 Transylvania.

Race #11 – The G1 – Turf Classic – 1 1/8 on the turf – 5:25 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #2 – Raging Bull / #9 – Synchrony / #12 – Bricks and Mortar

#2 Raging Bull is a son of Dark Angel (IRE) for trainer Chad Brown with Joel Rosario in the irons. He is a late runner who will make his presence felt at the top of the lane while making his 2nd start of the year. Heavily backed last out, Bull gave a very good account of himself last time out. He has an explosive turn of foot. #9 Synchrony is a son of Tapit for trainer Mike Stidham. John Velasquez in the saddle and he is 1 for 1 ITM at CD. This is his 3rd start off the layoff where the barn wins 23%. Look for Johnny V to come rolling late in the stretch. #12 Bricks and Mortar hails from the Chad Brown barn with Irad Ortiz as the pilot. 2nd off the layoff seeking four straight wins. He is 3 for 3 going the distance and Ortiz is a strong finisher down the lane. The only knock is overcoming the #12 post.

Race #12 – The 145th running of the G1 Kentucky Derby – 1 1/4 – 6:50 pm EDT

*** Omaha Beach is a late scratch and #20 – Bodexpress draws into the race ***

BetPTC.com Selections / #17 – Roadster / #16 – Game Winner / #6 Vekoma

#17 Roadster is one of three runners for the Bob Baffert camp. He is a son of Quality Road and Florent Geroux is in the saddle. This is his 3rd start off the layoff, lightly raced, and if you watched the G1 Santa Anita Derby, you’ll see an incredible effort. He settled in, dropped back and made an explosive move around the bend. Geroux is an excellent reinsman and I’m looking for him to wear the roses this year. #16 Game Winner is a son of Candy Ride for trainer Bob Baffert. 1 for 1 at CD and 3rd off the layoff for this colt. Since winning the B/C Juvenile last year he owns a pair of 2nd place efforts in the G2 Rebel and G1 Santa Anita Derby. He’s a game runner and does very little wrong. I’m looking for a perfect stalking trip to make it a Baffert exacta. #6 Vekoma is a son of Candy Ride for trainer George Weaver. Javier Castellano in driver’s seat, and this guy has a wicked turn of foot. He should stalk just off the pace and make a move around the far turn. If Mother Nature gets ugly, he is bred well to love a wet surface.

Aqueduct

Race #8 – The 100k – Franklin Square – 6f – 4:26 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #3 – Stonesintheroad / #4 – Forgotten Hero / #2 – Maiden Beauty

#3 Stonesintheroad is a daughter of Bustin Stones. Rajiv Maragh stays aboard looking for this 3rd straight about this talented filly. She  has easily handled the distance last out and her finish showed plenty in the tank. Trainer Jeremiah Englehardt wis off to the races winning 17% and 26% with last race winners. #4 Forgotten Hero is a speedy gal by Mission Impazible. Mike Luzzi in the irons for John Toscano. She’s going to be forwardly placed but if someone give her the press she’ll get the acid test moving forward. Her last effort was all that and trip to the winner’s circle and Luzzi wins 13% with speed ball runners. #2 Maiden Beauty can layoff the pace and make a bid. She is on the turn back from a mile and I like the idea of mixing her surroundings up a bit. Manny Franco in the saddle and he is scorching at a 23% win clip so far at the Big A. this is her second off the layoff and owns a bullet work to get ready. Winner at a solid price?

Race #11 – The G3 Hal’s Hope – 1 mile – 4:58 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #5 – Quip / #7 – Copper Town / #3 – Breaking Lucky

#5 Quip is a son of Distorted Humor from the Rodolphe Brisset barn. Keep an eye on this lad as he’s worked with some of the biggest names in racing. Jose Ortiz in the driver’s seat and has been off for 9 months since the Preakness. His works at Payson have been solid and the barn is 44% ITM off long range layoffs. He faced the tough guys last year and cuts back in distance preparing for his spring campaign. #7 Copper Town is owned by Win Star Farm and China Horse Club International for Todd Pletcher. Javier Castellano in the irons and he’s been rolling at a 22% clip to the winner’s circle. I think they’re still trying to find the true meaning of this colt and makes a 2nd off the layoff move since a troubled trip in the gate as a beaten favorite. #3 Breaking Lucky has Luis Saez in the irons for George Weaver. Another runner still trying to find himself and that’s what makes spring at GP attractive. Look for a midpack break second time out this year.

Santa Anita

Race #9 – The G2 Buena Vista – 1 mile on the turf – 7:20 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #9 – Vasilika / #8 – Elysea’s World / #6 – Amandine

#9 Vasilika is a talented daughter of Skipshot. She is 9 for 9 ITM at SA on the weeds with 8 wins tom her credit. She is 13 for 18 ITM going this far and has the ultra talented Flavien Prat abord winning 24% at the meet. Jerry Hollendorfer is the conditioner and she should calling at the top of the staying out of traffic on the outside. Looks like a lock in this race. #8 Elysea’s World has been off for 4 months coming in from Woodbine in the G1 EP Taylor. She tossed in a dud that day ad comes to California off the break. Bravo to Rosario is a plus on the left coast as he is winning at a 23% number. She is a deep closer and look for her to come rocking at top of the stretch. #6 Amandine is a filly with tactical speed. Drayden Van Dyke aboard and she is 2 for 3 ITM over the SA turf. Look for a close up and DVD to try his hand at wiring the field at a big price.
