The barn wins 26% with graded stakes and is a horse for the course going 5 for 5 ITM. His early speed should have him in striking position when they make the turn for home. #1 Admiralty Pier is a son of English Channel for the Barbara Minshall barn. He is making a big drop in class and the barn wins 26% going from a route to a sprint. Rafael Hernandez should have in mid flight waiting to make a move at the top of the lane.

BetPTC.com Selections / #8 – Starship Jubilee / #7 – Imperial Charm / #4 – Si Que Es Buena

#8 Starship Jubilee hails from the Kevin Attard barn with Luis Contreras in the saddle. The trainer wins 18% with graded stakes and was impressive winning the G2 Canadian last out. She is 8 for 12 ITM at Woodbine and should be in mid pack waiting to launch a bid. The added ground should be a bonus for his running style. #7 Imperial Charm is a daughter of Dubawi for trainer Simon Crisford. She gets Lasix and as she ships over from Longchamp. Andrea Atenzi makes the trip and this filly is bred to love the turf. Her dam Reem Three has 5 starters, 5 winners, and 5 turf winners to her credit. #4 Si Que Es Buena comes from the Graham Motion barn with Chris Landeros in the irons. She is a stout closer shipping in from Gulfstream and should come motoring down the lane.

BetPTC.com Selections / #4 – Desert Encounter / #1 – Ziyad / #3 – Nessy

#4 Desert Encounter is a son of Halling from the David Simcock yard with Andrea Antenzi in the saddle. He is seeking his 4th in a row and is 1 for 1 over the course. He’s looking to make it two in a row in the race and should be launching a late bid. #1 Ziyad is a son of Rock of Gibraltar (IRE) with Maxime Guyon in the saddle. He is shipping in from France where he has been hitting on all cylinders. He is 13 for 16 ITM  on the green and his three races show promise for making the trip. #3 Nessy comes from the barn of Ian Wilkes with his son in law Chris Landeros in the irons. A solid closer who is making is the third effort off the shelf. The distance should be no problem and his effort in the G-1 Northern Dancer shows he could be sitting on a big effort.

#7 Go Google Yourself comes to post for Paul McGee and B.J. Hernandez in the irons. She is 2nd off the layoff and the filly loves the course going 5 for 7 ITM. That was a solid prep winning the Groupie Doll at Ellis and Hernandez is no stranger to the CD winner’s circle. Look for a solid stalking trip. #3 Mylady Curlin is a daughter of Curlin for trainer Brad Cox and Shaun Bridgmohan. 3rd off the layoff looking for her 6th straight win. The Cox barn wins 30% off a last race win and sports a nice morning workout. She’ll be on the hook or just off the leader. #2 Moonlit Garden is a daughter of Malibu Moon for Brad Cox and Florent Geroux. 3rd off the layoff where Cox wins 27% and was a beaten chalk in the Groupie Doll. Flo will have her in a good spot and hit the accelerator around the far turn.

BetPTC.com Selections / #6 – Morning Gold / #3- Portrait / #1 – Shadilee

#6 Morning Gold is a daughter of Morning Line for Kenny McPeek and Jose Ortiz. She gets first Lasix and moves from the turf to the dirt. Look for Ortiz to come out swinging as he wins 19% with his early style runners. McPeek wins 19% with first time Lasix. Add them up and you may have a good plan for heading to the windows. #3 Portrait comes to post for Brad Cox and Shaun Bridgmohan. She had a commanding win at EP last out after coming off the turf prior. She has the look of a dangerous stalker moving up the ladder. Cox wins 28% of the time off a maiden win. #1 Shadilee goes postward for Mike Maker and Julien Leparoux. Impressive maiden victory at the Spa and was claimed for $75,000 for the Maker barn. They win 15% off a claim and she sports a smoking work in Louisville. You have to use in your exotics.

BetPTC.com Selections / #6 – Flute Maker / #4 – Rowdy Yates / #2 – Letmeno

#6 Flute Maker is a son of Sky Mesa for Ken McPeek and Jose Ortiz. Ultra impressive closing win at Saratoga and looks to kick it up a notch moving up the ladder. If his last race is any indication he’ll fit in nicely with the field. #4 Rowdy Yates comes in for Steve Asmussen and Tyler Baze. A speedster who won the Ellis Juvenile and comes back to CD where he broke his maiden and 2nd in the Bashford Manor. Catch him if you want to beat him. #2 Letmeno comes from the Ian Wilkes barn with Calvin Borel in the irons. He’s a closer who got shuffled back a bit trying to catch Rowdy Yates last out. He has some nice works at CD and Borel knows his way to the winner’s circle for big races.

Aqueduct

Race #4 – The G2 Demoiselle – 1 1/8 – 1:02 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #7 – Molto Bella / #1 – Enliven / #6 – Afleet Destiny

#7 Molto Bella is a daughter of Violence for the Ian Wilkes barn. Javier Castellano has the call and she can sport a good turn of early foot. Two back she went from a sprint to a one turn mile at CD in the Rags to Riches four wide gaining on the winner. She should benefit from the high percentage Castellano 25% at Aqueduct and be much closer to the action. 2nd route races yield a 21% win clip from the Wilkes barn. #1 Enliven comes from the Kiaran McLaughlin stable and is a stone cold closer. She ran a very game 3rd in the G3 Tempted and gets the services of Jersey Joe Bravo. The rail is winning 28% and she’ll come calling late in the lane. #6 Afleet Destiny comes off a quick closing effort at Parx for Uriah St. Lewis with strong closing rider Irad Ortiz in the irons. She’s been knocking on the door and received her diploma last out on the step up in class.

Race #8 – The G2 Remsen – 1 1/8 – 3:12 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #5 – Network Effect / #6 – Maximus Mischief / #3 -Bourbon War

#5 Network Effect is a solid closer in a race filled with speed. He hails from the Chad Brown barn with Javier Castellano in the driver’s seat. He had a very nice maiden break at Saratoga and came rolling 6 wide last out. He should relish the added distance and Brown wins 36% going second time at the route distance. #6 Maximus Mischief is a speedy colt who is seeking his third straight win coming in from Parx. Frankie Pennington comes in for the ride and will be sending this son of Into MIschief right to the lead. He has a bullet work on 11/16 at Parx and looks ready for the next step. #3 Bourbon War comes from the Mark Hennig barn with Irad Ortiz in the irons. He has a win at the “Big A” and appears to be a perfect stalking sort. Ortiz is an excellent closing rider and this son of Tapit may get right in the game at the top of the stretch.

Race #9 – The G1 Cigar Mile – 1 mile – 3:45 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #3 – Sunny Ridge / #8 – Pattern Recognition / #1 – Mendelssohn

#3 Sunny Ridge is a son of Holy Bull for the Jason Servis barn. Irad Ortiz has the call and they team up to win 34%. He exits the G2 Kelso going a mile and should enjoy the distance where he is 5 for 5 ITM. Manny Franco to Ortiz, and a solid stalker in the field. I’m looking for a big effort getting the job done around the far turn. #8 Pattern Recognition comes in off a win in the G2 Kelso and should be a major pace player for the Chad Brown barn. He is 2 for 2 at Aqueduct and looks for three in a row. I think Jose Ortiz will send and he’s one of the best speed riders in the nation. #1 Mendelssohn is a son of Scat Daddy for Aidan O’Brien with Ryan Moore in the saddle. He’ll show good speed, and Moore is always dangerous anytime he takes a mount. He’s cutting back from a mile and a quarter and may improve at the shorter distance.

#11 Mae Never No is trained by Wesley Ward and making her 2nd start off the layoff. She is 2 for 2 facing the gals and ran a game 3rd in the Tremont as a beaten favorite. Ward wins 21% with his first time grass runners and been working around the dogs at Keeneland. Albin Jimenez in the saddle looking for a perfect stalking trip to make a run in the long home stretch. #10 Moonlight Romance comes from the barn of Wesley Ward and has Jose Ortiz in the irons. She comes back from Royal Ascot and a daughter of Liaison for Ken & Sarah Ramsey. Blinkers off today and she broke her maiden at Belmont last out on the turf. #2 Chattel has Kendrick Carmouche in the driver’s seat for this son of Giant Oak. He was impressive in the Skidmore Stakes at Saratoga and makes the trip to Kentucky to try the undulating course.

Race #7 – Ladies Turf – 1 mile on the turf – 5:26 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #7 Hallie Belle / #8 In the Lee / #10 Dubara

#7 Hallie Belle is a daughter of Medaglia d’ Oro for the Michael Stidham barn. This is her 3rd off the layoff and “Jersey” Joe Bravo comes down for the mount. She’s dropping down a notch from the G2 Yellow Ribbon Stakes and her dam Charity Belle has 4 starters / 2 winners / 1  stakes winner / 2 turf winners to her credit. #8 In the Lee comes from the stable of Shug McGaughey with Jose Ortiz in the saddle. She is 6 for 7 ITM on grass and been off for two months since Belmont. Shug wins 21% with layoff runners and Ortiz is 49% ITM on the sod. #10 Dubara has the services of Adam Beschizza for this daughter of Dubawi. Her dam Kibara has 6 starters / 6 winners / 6 turf winners to her credit. Since coming across the pond she seems to be enjoying Lasix and the grass racing. This course may be to her liking.

Race #8 – G3 Ladies Sprint – 6 1/2f on the turf – 5:57 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #6 Lull / #7 Originator / #1 Brielle’s Belle

#6 Lull is a daughter of War Front and 2 for 2 with wins over the KyD course. Christophe Clement is the conditioner and has B.J. Hernadez in the saddle. Runners that like the track usually come back and show a good effort. She comes in off a solid effort in the G2 Royal North at Woodbine. She’s in perfect shape heading back to Kentucky and was sprinting 6f last out and gets added distance this day. #7 Originator hails from the Ian Wilkes barn with Jose Ortiz in the driver’s seat. She is a daughter of Artie Schiller and is 5 for 6 ITM on the greensward. She’s a closer and Ortiz is an excellent judge of pace. I really like her chances today. #1 Brielle’s Appeal is a speedy filly by English Channel who’s going to grab the lead for trainer Al Stall. She has been away for 47 days at Saratoga and could be a handful if turned loose from the gate break.

Keeneland

Race #9 – The G2 Fayette Stakes – 1 1/8 – 5:30 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #5 – Honorable Duty / #6 – McCraken / #2 – Neolithic

#5 – Honorable Duty = Corey Lanerie in the irons as he is making his 2nd start off a brief layoff. His impressive win in the Lukas Classic shows he’s ready to get back to work and is 1/1 over the course. The distance should be no problem as he is 3/5 ITM going this far. #6 – McCraken = Brian Hernandez for Ian Wilkes and they are bringing this son of Ghostzapper off a 3-month layoff. His dismal effort in the G1 Travers showed he needed to have a little time down, and a brief summer freshening is just what the doctor ordered. He has a solid work tab and hasn’t seen Keeneland since he was a beaten favorite in the Bluegrass. Look for a whole new runner. #2 – Neolithic = Speedy son of Harlan’s Holiday has been off for 56 days since the G1 Woodward. Look for Robby Albarado to send right to the lead and steal this race for the Pletcher barn.

Belmont

Race #7 – The G3 Athenia – 1 1/16 on the turf – 3:43 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #7 – Off Limits / #10 – Penjade / #8 -Westit

#7 – Off Limits = Joel Rosario in the saddle for Chad Brown and they are scoring at a 33% clip the past few months. She’s been the picture of consistency in 2017 and is looking to make it 3-in-a-row after taking down the G3 Noble Damsel. She is 3/4 over the Belmont turf and going from a mile to 1 1/16 looks to fit her like a glove. #10 – Penjade = Irad Ortiz has the call for Chad Brown and they have been doing good work as a team. She is 4/4 ITM over the Belmont sod and looking to make it four straight in 2017. This daughter of Air Chief Marshall is taking a big step in class but her recent efforts warrant a hard look at scoring at a price. #8 – Westit = Manny Franco aboard this daughter of Tapit as she ships in from France.  She has run on synthetic, turf, and faced the boys many times in France. If the ground has a little cut on Saturday I would give her a good look to complete your exotics.

Race #8 – The G3 Turnback the Alarm – 1 1/16 – 4:16 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #3 – Miss Sky Warrior / #5 – Birdatthewire / #2 – Tejana

#3 – Miss Sky Warrior = Javier Castellano in the irons for Kelly Breen. She’s been away for 5 months since the Kentucky Oaks and her morning works show a filly ready to roll. She cuts back in distance and drops in class and this should make her a major danger. Castellano takes over for Paco Lopez and if her last bullet work is any indication she’ll be tough to handle. #5 – Birdatthewire = Manny Franco teams up with Thom Proctor. She’s coming off a two-month break and has been working very well. She adds distance and Franco did an excellent job in the G1 Ballerina last out finishing 4th. #2 – Tejana = Speedy daughter of Curlin has the services of one of the best speed riders in the country with Jose Ortiz. She’s had a regular work tab and if Ortiz gets loose on the lead he could put out the lights on the field.

Race #9 – The G3 Bold Ruler – 7f – 4:49 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #9 – Seymourdini / #11 – Divining Rod / #7 – Stallwalkin’ Dude

#9 – Seymourdini = Jose Ortiz has the call for Linda Rice, and this son of Bernardini looks to make it four straight. He is 3/4 ITM at Belmont and been improving with every start. This is his acid test for the Rice barn, and she wins 28% of the time off the last race win. #11 – Divining Rod = Daniel Centeno in the irons for Arnaud Delacour and this son of Tapit comes off a game effort in the G2 Kelso. This is his 4th start of the year and cuts back in distance and drops in class. #7 – Stallwalkin’ Dude = Irad Ortiz has the mount for the son of City Place. He finished 3rd last out in the G1 Vosburgh and is 10/13 ITM at Belmont. Ortiz is a solid closing rider and this gelding will benefit from his strong late finishing efforts.

This son of Adios Charlie is 5/5 ITM and Ortiz fits like a glove. Coal Front = Son of Stay Thirsty for Todd Pletcher barn. He is 2/2 and this is his acid test moving to the next level. Rider and trainer are 7/13 the last two weeks. His sire is 2/3 with his progeny and looks solid. Toga Challenger = Moves up the next class rung for Rudy Rodriguez (22%). Irad Ortiz in the saddle and they are 10/27 ITM the past week.

Race #8 – G1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt – 6f – 5:02 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #5 – Bird Song / #8 – Limousine Liberal  / #4 – A.P. Indian

Bird Song = Exits the G1 Stephen Foster and that me a race to toss out. They are cutting back from 1 1/8 – 6f with a win at the Spa. Trainer Ian Wilkes and Julien Leparoux team up to win (40%) the last two months and his blazing work of 47.1 / 1/99 at CD may have all systems go. Limousine Liberal = 7/9 ITM going 6 panels for Ben Colebrook. They are cutting back from 7f and Ortiz compliments his running style perfectly. The bullet work at Keeneland of 47 flat should have them ready to make a good showing. A.P. Indian = Son of Indian Charlie is 7/9 ITM at the distance and 2/3 ITM at Saratoga. Been off two months and working very solid in the morning for Arnaud Delacour.

Race #9 – G2 Bowling Green – 1 3/8 on the turf – 5:48 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #4 – Sadler’s Joy  / #5 – Hunter O’Riley / #1 – Bigger Picture

Sadler’s Joy = Been off for 49 days since the G1 Manhattan. Thom Albertrani is the conditioner and he has the services of Javier Castellano in the irons. This son of Kitten’s Joy was 6 wide and closing stoutly last out. Castellano wins (19%) with his turf runners and his dam has three starters with three turf winners to her credit. Should be mid-pack with a target on the leaders. Hunter O’Riley = Been off for 50 days for the James Toner barn. Florent Geroux in the saddle as he exits the Belmont Gold Cup going 2 miles. Cuts back and has a devasting late kick. Bigger Picture = Joe Bravo for Mike Maker making a 2nd off the shelf move (23%). He exits a win in the G1 Manhattan and Maker wins (36%) with graded stakes runners.

Race #10 – G2 Jim Dandy – 1 1/8 – 6:18 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #1 – Always Dreaming  / #2 – Cloud Computing / #4 – Pavel

Always Dreaming = John Velasquez aboard for Todd Pletcher with a son of Bodemeister. He’s been off since the Preakness and you might want to toss that race out. He should improve greatly cutting back 1 3/16 – 1 1/8 and the Derby winner looks to kick the second half of the season in fine fashion. The rail is winning at (21%) and the works leading up show readiness to make it back to the races.  Cloud Computing = Closer for the Chad Brown barn. The good news is Javier Castellano stays aboard off the Preakness win. He’s faced some of the best 3-yr-olds of the year and hopes for some pace to set him up. Pavel = Doug O’Neill and Mario Gutierrez bringing a mdn winning son of Creative Cause. He was pretty impressive but this is a whole new level. O’Neill wouldn’t be coming this way if he didn’t think there was a chance for him to fit into the race.

Del Mar

Race #9 – G1 Bing Crosby – 6f – 9:10 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #2 – Drefong / #4 – Ransom the Moon / #8 – Roy H

Cuts back in distance for the Phil D’Amato barn and has a flashy work to his credit. Roy H = Paco Lopez in the saddle for Peter Miller and has been off for two months winning the G2 True North at Belmont. Blistering works and seeking for his 4th in-a-row coming off the shelf. He’ll be dangerous.

BetPTC.com Horses to Watch – 3/11/17

Horses to Watch – Ed Meyer

The weekend of Derby preps may have muddied the waters as the chorus of will the real contenders please show up is growing. But not to worry. This has happened as long as the roses have bloomed. Maybe this will be the year we have a blockbuster payoff in Louisville ! You’ll want to stay tuned for every prep moving forward as value could be waiting right around the corner. – Here are some runners you’ll want to follow right back to the starting gate. They didn’t have had their best effort and this may be the angle you’ve been looking for. Best of luck from your friends at BetPTC.com !

Gulfstream Park

3/4/17

Race #2 – #4 – Silver Defense – 7 1/2f on the turf

“Jersey” Joe Bravo aboard as they exited the OBS Sprint going 6f on the AW to 7 1/2f on the turf. The son of First Defense came flying late in the lane and was hammered at the windows from a 12-1 morning line to 9-2 at post time. – He was taken up at the start and raced under a snug hold. Once turned loose he tipped off the rail and fanned 7 wide closing with a flourish.

Race #3 – #5 – Donwell – 1 1/16 on the main track

Joel Rosario in the irons for Bill Mott and they win at a 19% clip as a team. This son of Divine Park was making the turf-dirt switch and owned two maintenance works at Palm Meadows. He was a beaten chalk last time out and offered a sweet price at 19-1 this day. This was his second off a layoff run and was three wide for 3/4 of the race. Rosario swung wide looking for a clear lane and made a solid bid down the lane finishing second. Even though this was a very good effort on dirt, my inner-horse player would not be surprised to him back on the weeds.

Race #4 – #4 – Coasted – 1 1/16 on the turf

Irad Ortiz in from New York to ride. This was her first start in four months and the daughter of Tizway looked good on the track. She hopped at the break costing a few lengths and was forced to tap on the brakes down the backside. She made a game effort down the lane and was bested by fast closing Dream Dancing threading the needle along the rail. – Coasted may be in top order for a great 2017 racing season.

Race #7 – #1 – Olorda – 1 3/16 on the turf

Julien Leparoux in the saddle for Chad Brown and this speedy mare by Lord of England (GER) looked to be ready to dictate the pace under red-hot Leparoux. She was bumped soundly at the start and forced to take up and check sharply down the backstretch. Dismiss this effort and follow her right back the next time she takes the track. If Leparoux stays aboard you can expect the top-notch speed rider to dictate the pace.

Race #8 – #13 – Fayeq – 7f on the main track

Joel Rosario aboard the first time starter for the Kiaran McLaughlin barn. The son of Malibu Moon was breaking from the far outside post and that is no gift. – He kicked around the far turn and made a huge late kick run to get the show-dough. He has solid breeding and the trainer does well with second time efforts. Hopefully a better post is in his future and more distance doesn’t look like a bad thing.

Race #11 – #4 – Bondurant – 1 mile on the turf

Brain Hernandez had the call for Ian Wilkes and this was his second start of 2017. The son of War Front saved ground along the rail and had to await a gap many times during the race. Once he tipped off at the 1/16th pole he weaved in and out making a strong late bid.
