Belmont Park Race #8 – The G1 Woody Stephens – 7f – 4:04 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #4 – Complexity / #1 – Honest Mischief / #8 – Hog Creek Hustle

#4 Complexity comes from the barn of Chad Brown with Jose Ortiz in the irons. They are winning 26% together as a team. He’s been off for 7 months since the BC Juvenile where he was bumped soundly. He’s been training over the Oklahoma Training Course at Saratoga and cuts back in distance. This colt looks to benefit from a quick early pace stalking in mid pack. #1 Honest Mischief is a Chad Brown trainee with Javier Castellano in the saddle. He’s been off for two months after an impressive maiden win at Keeneland. He owns a sharp work as they team up to win 35%. He’s a closer and should get a piece of the pie. #8 Hog Creek Hustle is a son of Overanalyze for trainer Vickie Foley. Corey Lanerie always makes a run with him, and this colt should come flying late to light up your exotic payoffs.

Bangor ates

Race #9 – The G1 Metropolitan – 1 mile – 4:46 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #7 – Firenze Fire / #3 – Mitole / #2 – McKenzie

#7 Firenze Fire comes from the barn of Jason Servis with Irad Ortiz in the driver’s seat. 3rd off the layoff with an impressive win in the Runhappy at Belmont. He is 3 for 3 with wins and should appreciate the added ground and strong finishing Ortiz in the saddle. #3 Mitole is a speedy son of Eskendreya looking for his 7th straight victory. His win in the G1 Churchill Downs was solid and Steve Asmussen brings his go to rider in Ricardo Santana looking to wire the field. #2 McKenzie is a son of Street Sense with Mike Smith in the irons for Bob Baffert. His 3rd off the layoff move yields a 26% win clip. He is a perfect stalking type cutting back to a one turn mile.

Race #10 – G1 Manhattan – 1 1/4 on the turf – 5:36 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #8 – Bricks and Mortar / #10 Channel Maker / #4 Qurbaan

#8 Bricks and Mortar is a son of Giant’s Causeway for trainer Chad Brown. 3rd off the layoff looking for his 5th straight win. When he won the G1 Pegasus World Cup Turf he found another gear that day. He is 3 for 3 ITM at Belmont and 1 for 1 at the distance. Look for a late rush in the lane. #10 Channel Maker from the barn of Bill Mott with Joel Rosario in the irons. This is his 2nd off the layoff and should be right on the pace. Winning the G1 Man O’ War shows he is in great form and should be right in the mix turning for home. #4 Qurbaan comes from the barn of Kiaran McLaughlin with Mike Smith. 3rd off for the son of Speightstown who ran a game second to the favorite. He should be a little closer with one of the best riders in the business.

Race #11 – The 151st Belmont Stakes – 1 1/2 – 6:37 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #10 – Tacitus / #8 – Intrepid Heart / #6 – Spinoff

#10 Tacitus is a son of Tapit for Bill Mott and Jose Ortiz. He’s as honest as they come and is always knocking on the door. He should be able to run the distance and the outside post will allow him to drop over and settle. He has a nice late punch and a bullet work to show readiness. #8 Intrepid Heart comes from the Pletcher barn with John Velasquez in the irons. 3rd off the layoff and adds blinkers where they win 20% on this equipment change. He stumbled at the start in the G3 Peter Pan as the post time chalk. He’ll stalk the pace and wait for his cue to take off in high gear. #6 Spinoff is a son of Hard Spun for Todd Pletcher. Javier Castellano is aboard and I would toss out his Derby trip. He should be closer than normal and Castellano wins 20% with early runners. I’m looking for an up close trip navigating the sweeping turn for home.

#4 Syndergaard has the services of John Velasquez in the saddle and is 3 for 3 ITM at Aqueduct. A versatile sort who is cutting back from a mile where trainer John Terranova is 51% ITM. Johnny V will have him in a perfect stalking position and he’ll move around the far turn to be in position for the stretch drive. #3 Skyler’s Scramjet is a speedster from the Michelle Nevin barn. He’s been off for 49 days and his works are sparkling. Look for Dylan Davis to be right at the front, and if the freshening has him ready he’s gonna be a handful. #5 Bavaro is a son of Freud looking for his fourth straight win. Junior Alvarado is the reinsman and he is rolling at meet winning 23%. Look for him right on the engine duking it out with anyone who has enough early speed.

Race #10 – The G3 Gotham – 1 mile – 5:09 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #6 – Instagrand / #3 – Mind Control / #5 – Haikal

#6 Instagrand is a son of Into Mischief who is a perfect 2 for 2. He ships in from Del Mar off a 7 month layoff and a couple of ten length wins. Jerry Hollendorfer and Javier Castellano team up for a big run. His works are hot and Castellano moves up his chances to put on a big show. He should be right on the hook and tough to deal with. Catch him if you can when they turn for home. #3 Mind Control has John Velasquez in the saddle and makes his 2nd start of the year. Two back he tossed in a clunker in the BC Juvenile after getting caught in tight and forced to check. He came right back and rolled in the Jerome and should lay just off the speed. #5 Haikal is a deep closer who should enjoy a field chock full of speed. He is a neck short of being three in a row and Rajiv Maragh calls the shots for the Kiaran McLaughlin barn. He will come flying late and should enjoy the added distance.

#10 Somelikeithotbrown is a son of Big Brown for the Mike Maker barn with Tyler Gaffalione in the irons. His victory in the John Battaglia Memorial was impressive as he makes his second start of the year. He has a quick turn of early speed and should be right in the top flight. Gaffalione coming in from Florida and Maker being loaded with quality stock looks like the race is for place if he gets a clean start. #9 Curlin Grey is a strong closer for trainer Ken McPeek. This is his 3rd start off the layoff and McPeek wins 19% going from dirt to synthetic surfaces. McPeek always has to be respected when he ships into Turfway. #4 Dabo is a son of Temple City and has a nice late punch. Dale Romans is the trainer and last out he looked like he needed one closing stoutly in the John Battaglia. Luan Machado in the irons and he has done incredibly well at Turfway. This is his 2nd of the year and the distance should be no problem. Look for him to rolling as they turn for home. I like his chances overall and it wouldn’t be a big surprise if he improves off his last race to take down the prize.

Two of his of three races he was forced to negotiate traffic and looked a very versatile colt. Todd Pletcher sends out another runner for the “Todd Squad” and should get a perfect stalking trip from a rider who gets his picture taken at a 20% clip. #3 Knicks Go is a pure speedster under the guided hand of Albin Jimenez. Ben Colebrook is the trainer and after a beaten favorite effort in the G2 Ky. Jockey Gold Cup at CD he has been on the shelf looking for a top effort. His works at TBD have been promising and look for a gate to wire effort. #7 Five Star General is a speedy sort under Jose Ortiz. Thom Proctor brings him to post and made a very game move last out. I’m looking for that to be a good sign of things to come for this deep closer. #8 Beach View is a son of Giant’s Causeway and has Rafaelo Bejarano in the driver’s seat. He is 6 for 8 ITM on the grass and two races back made a bold move at the top pick Chicago Style only to get blocked. I’m looking for a solid rematch as they swing for home. #6 Sejo has Flavien Prat in the saddle for John Sadler. They are getting first Lasix shipping over from Longchamp in France. He is 3 for 4 ITM on the greensward. Sadler is 35% ITM with runners coming to the states first out.

She’s been off for 7 months and has been working bullets in the morning. Her last effort in the G3 Doubledogdare at Keeneland may be a good prep. She should sit back and get a great ride from Castellano and come calling late. #4 Stormy Embrace is a solid filly in the hands of Tyler Gaffalione winning 22%. She exits the BC Filly and Mare Sprint and tossed in a clunker. The drop in class should help her causes and 2nd off the layoff yields the Kathleen O’Connell barn 19% with her sprinters. I like her chances and I’m sure we’ll see good things down the road from this young lady. #2 Awestruck is a Rusty Arnold trainee with B.J. Hernandez in the irons. This is her 3rd off the shelf and she is 2 for 2 ITM over the GP oval. Look for Hernandez to come rolling late in the final furlong. She has a sharp work to prepare and can be  a major player today.

Now is the time to keep on top of your reading and combing over race replays. – In the meantime, here are some runners that may come right back and build your bankroll. – Best of luck from your friends at BetPTC.com!

#4 – Minsky Moment = Chad Brown runner with Irad Ortiz in the saddle. This son of Flatter has been heavily bet the last 5 of 6 starts and has yet to run on the turf. His breeding suggests he should relish the sod and Ortiz win 18% on the greensward. He was bottled up around the far turn and was forced to tap on the brakes a few times. He tipped off the rail and made a strong late kick weaving in and out of traffic.

Keeneland

10/7/17

Race #5 – The G2 Woodford – 5 1/2f on the turf – #1 – Conquest Panthera

#1 – Conquest Panthera = Robby Albarado in the saddle for Mark Casse. They were dropping in class and cutting back from 1 mile to 5 1/2f. This son of Kitten’s Joy has faced some tough runners and the sprint this day was coming off his 3rd off the layoff – 17%. He broke slowly from the gate and saved ground the entire trip. Albarado tipped off the rail and made a strong late challenge finishing a very game 4th place.

Race #7 – The G1 First Lady – 1 mile on the turf – #3 – Dona Bruja

#3 – Dona Bruja = Declan Cannon in the irons for Ignacio Correas. She exited the 1 3/16 G1 Beverly D and was a beaten favorite that day. Ever since coming in from Argentina she has looked better with every effort. She is 11/11 ITM on the turf and was turning back to a flat mile. – She kicked going 6 wide and made a strong late run. Maybe a little more ground would be to her liking and if she gets the right distance she will come rolling late in the lane.

#4 – Road to Meath = Jose Ortiz in the saddle for Chad Brown. Three wide into the turn and 4 wide into the stretch. This was his 2nd start lifetime and was cutting back in distance from 6 1/2f – 1 1/16. Maybe a little less distance may be just what the doctor ordered.

Race #7 – G1 Vosburgh – 6f

#6 – Celtic Chaos = 3rd off the layoff and moving up in class for Kiaran McLaughlin. Tons of early speed and he was 3-4 wide closing into to be 4th. Maybe dropping back to New York company may help as this race offered up positive signs.

Race #8 – G3 Pilgrim – 1 1/16 on the turf

#5 – Voting Control = Son of Kitten’s Joy from the Chad Brown barn looking for two-in-a-row. Javier Castellano snatched up his mount and was squeezed back shortly after the start. After the early shenanigans, he rallied up to be 2nd money.

Santa Anita

#8 – Solomini = Son of Curlin for the Bob Baffert barn looking for two-in-a-row. He was 4 wide into the turn and was wide throughout and caught a very tough Bolt d’ Oro winning by 7 3/4. He should rebound nicely and give us more to look forward to watching.

Race #9 – G1 Rodeo Drive – 1 1/4 on the turf

#3 – Responsibleforlove = She is 2/3 ITM at Santa Anita and was coming off a 45-day rest. She saved ground and stalked and was forced to tap on the brakes multiple times. After this eventful trip, she managed to finish a solid 3rd.
