Belmont

Race #8 – The G3 Noble Damsel – 1 mile turf – 4:51pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #5 – Significant Form / #4 – Capla Temptress / #2 – Stella di Camelot

#5 Significant Form is 3rd off the layoff for Chad Brown who is winning 29% at the meet. She is 3 for 4 ITM at Belmont and got in up the shadow of the wire with John Velasquez last time out. She’s a stalker bred for the turf and Johnny V has been riding exceptionally well this meet winning 27%. #4 Capla Temptress is a daughter of Lope De Vega (IRE) for Bill Mott and Jose Lezcano. A closer who fits well and makes her first start in 49 days. Her last race in the De La Rose showed very positive signs moving forward. #2 Stella di Camelot comes in for Chad Brown and Javier Castellano. 2 for 2 ITM at Belmont and comes off a 49 day layoff. She’ll be a late mover and will hit high gear in the homestretch.

Race #10 – The G2 Kelso – 1 mile – 5:57 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #2 – True Timber / #3 – Pat on the Back / #7 – Tale of Silence

#2 True Timber is a son of Mineshaft coming to post for Kiaran McLaughlin and Joe Bravo. Takes a big drop in class and is 4 for 5 ITM over the track. Been away for 5 mo and the barn can get them ready to fire at first asking. #3 Pat on the Back enters for Jeremiah Englehardt and Dylan Davis. A speedy son of Congrats who is 10 for 10 ITM at Bel. Stepping up from New York company and gets the big acid test today. #7 – Tale of Silence goes to post for Barclay Tagg and Javier Castellano. He is 4 for 6 ITM over the track and is a closing type runner. His last race was a perfect prep and the rider switch is a positive sign.

Remington Park september

Parx

Race #10- The G-1 Cotillion – 1 1/16 – 5:14 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #8 – Guarana / #1 – Serengeti Empress / #10 – Bellafina

#8 Guarana is a daughter of Ghostzapper for Chad Brown and Jose Ortiz. A perfect 3 for 3 and was impressive winning the G1 Acorn and G1 CCA Oaks. She comes in freshened and a bullet work unde3r her belt to be ready. She’ll be winging on the front end if you want to catch her. #1 Serengeti Empress is a Thom Amoss trainee with Irad Ortiz in the irons. She rolls in off a 49 day break and was ultra impressive winning the Oaks earlier this year from the #13 post. Her early style should have her duking it out with the #8 from the gate break. #10 Bellafina is a daughter of Quality Road and adds blinkers once again. Simon Callaghan and Flavien Prat team up and she is a very promising runner who can upset the apple cart.

Race #11- The G1 PA Derby – 1 1/8 – 5:48 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #7 – Maximum Security / #2 – Improbable / #1 – Math Wizard

#7 Maximum Security is a speedy colt who has done little since the Derby. Jason Servis has done an excellent job bringing him ready and his A game is always on tap. Luis Saez has been the regular pilot since February and they fit like a glove. I think we’ll see him go right to the front and take it from there. If anyone pushes back, he can back off. If nobody pressures he’ll be the engine. He’s been off for two months and Servis has a couple of works under his belt over the course. #2 Improbable is the perfect stalker from the Baffert barn. He can sit back as much as needed and turn up the heat when the real running begins. Mike Smith has the call and is always feared at the windows when the big money is on the line. Should offer up a nice stretch run to be the major danger. #1 Math Wizard is a solid colt who fought the claiming ranks early in his career. He is 7 for 12 ITM lifetime and brings Edgard Zayas to launch a late bid for minor shares.

Aqueduct

Race #4 – The G2 Demoiselle – 1 1/8 – 1:02 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #7 – Molto Bella / #1 – Enliven / #6 – Afleet Destiny

#7 Molto Bella is a daughter of Violence for the Ian Wilkes barn. Javier Castellano has the call and she can sport a good turn of early foot. Two back she went from a sprint to a one turn mile at CD in the Rags to Riches four wide gaining on the winner. She should benefit from the high percentage Castellano 25% at Aqueduct and be much closer to the action. 2nd route races yield a 21% win clip from the Wilkes barn. #1 Enliven comes from the Kiaran McLaughlin stable and is a stone cold closer. She ran a very game 3rd in the G3 Tempted and gets the services of Jersey Joe Bravo. The rail is winning 28% and she’ll come calling late in the lane. #6 Afleet Destiny comes off a quick closing effort at Parx for Uriah St. Lewis with strong closing rider Irad Ortiz in the irons. She’s been knocking on the door and received her diploma last out on the step up in class.

Race #8 – The G2 Remsen – 1 1/8 – 3:12 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #5 – Network Effect / #6 – Maximus Mischief / #3 -Bourbon War

#5 Network Effect is a solid closer in a race filled with speed. He hails from the Chad Brown barn with Javier Castellano in the driver’s seat. He had a very nice maiden break at Saratoga and came rolling 6 wide last out. He should relish the added distance and Brown wins 36% going second time at the route distance. #6 Maximus Mischief is a speedy colt who is seeking his third straight win coming in from Parx. Frankie Pennington comes in for the ride and will be sending this son of Into MIschief right to the lead. He has a bullet work on 11/16 at Parx and looks ready for the next step. #3 Bourbon War comes from the Mark Hennig barn with Irad Ortiz in the irons. He has a win at the “Big A” and appears to be a perfect stalking sort. Ortiz is an excellent closing rider and this son of Tapit may get right in the game at the top of the stretch.

Race #9 – The G1 Cigar Mile – 1 mile – 3:45 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #3 – Sunny Ridge / #8 – Pattern Recognition / #1 – Mendelssohn

#3 Sunny Ridge is a son of Holy Bull for the Jason Servis barn. Irad Ortiz has the call and they team up to win 34%. He exits the G2 Kelso going a mile and should enjoy the distance where he is 5 for 5 ITM. Manny Franco to Ortiz, and a solid stalker in the field. I’m looking for a big effort getting the job done around the far turn. #8 Pattern Recognition comes in off a win in the G2 Kelso and should be a major pace player for the Chad Brown barn. He is 2 for 2 at Aqueduct and looks for three in a row. I think Jose Ortiz will send and he’s one of the best speed riders in the nation. #1 Mendelssohn is a son of Scat Daddy for Aidan O’Brien with Ryan Moore in the saddle. He’ll show good speed, and Moore is always dangerous anytime he takes a mount. He’s cutting back from a mile and a quarter and may improve at the shorter distance.

Horses to Watch – Ed Meyer

As the nation is reeling from Mother Nature’s fury, many have been focused on friends and loved ones in the destructive path. – Racing is a golden opportunity to gather together and celebrate a beautiful day. – Nothing like a day at the races to come together. – As we enter the beginning of the fall racing season here are some horses to keep on your radar. – Best of luck from your friends at BetPTC.com!

Belmont

9/9/17

Race #2 – Mdn Sp Wt – 6f on the turf – #5 – Solid

#5 – Solid = Manny Franco in the irons for the Kiaran McLaughlin barn. He is a son of Smart Strike and has the breeding to suggest he will relish the turf. – He was off slow from the start spotting the field extra ground. He made an excellent drive to get back in the game and made striking move splitting runners down the lane to be 3rd this day.

Race #4 – Mdn Sp Wt – 1 mile – #5 – Coal Truth

#5 – Coal Truth = A son of Mineshaft was making his 2nd career start for the Chad Brown barn (27%). He was a beaten favorite his first time out and going from a sprint to a route where Brown scores at a (32%) clip. – He made contact with some runners this day and the two-yr-old was squeezed back at multiple times. He ran third but was put up to 2nd as the result of a DQ. – Keep this race on your “key races” to watch runners who exit.

Race #9 – AOC – 1 1/16 on the turf – #2 – Vision Colors

#2 – Vision Colors = Speedster shipping back from Parx. This son of Pollard’s Vision loves Belmont going 10/11 ITM at “Big Sandy.” – Manny Franco in the irons and stumbled at the start and still managed to get to the lead and show the way. He led all the way and called it a day at the top of the lane. Maybe the distance was too much or it was the compromised beginning that caused him to use up his early speed.

Kentucky Downs

9/9/17

Race #2 – Mdn Sp Wt – 6 1/2f on the turf – #4 – Shirl’s Ready

#4 – Shirl’s Ready = This son of More Than Ready was off four months coming in from CD. Ricardo Santana aboard and he looked to be heading for a big effort. – He sported a nice work at Ellis Park and shifted out and dug in gamely showing a very solid turn of late kick. He will most probably be heading back to CD and we’ll be looking there and possibly Keeneland for a trip over the greensward.

Race #4 – Mdn Sp Wt -6 1/2f on the turf –  #7 – Jolly Good

#7 – Jolly Good = Daughter of Paddy O’ Prado making her first start in just a shade over 4 months coming in from Keeneland. She is bred to relish the turf and was coming off a 6 1/2f effort on the dirt and getting her day on the undulating turf. – She was slow to begin and forced to steady. Her late kick was evident and she can easily stretch out in distance. Keep your eyes peeled for this gal.

Race #8 – KyD Ladies Sprint – 6 1/2f on the turf – #2 – Fair Point

#2 – Fair Point = 3rd start off the layoff for the daughter of Smart Strike. She was exiting some nice stake races in New York and getting added distance. Her efforts put her in the mix looking for a hole and was forced to steady at the 1/4 pole and some back later down the lane settling for 4th with plenty left.

Saratoga Race #8 – G1 Test Stakes – 7f – 5:10 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections – #10 – American Gal / #8 – Faypien / #4 – Tequilta

#10 – American Gal = 2nd start of the year from trainer Simon Callaghan (21%) with Jose Ortiz in the irons. She is 5/5 ITM and has a sharp work at Del Mar on 7/29. Add in an impressive win in the G3 Victory Starlet after stumbling at the start. #8 – Faypien = Bejarano / Baffert team up (33%) the past two months and she’s been away from the races 49 days. She has plenty of workouts to prepare and cuts back from 1 1/16 – 7f where she is a perfect 2/2. #4 – Tequilita = Luis Saez for Michael Matz and this daughter of Union Rags has been off since the Kentucky Oaks. She’s been working regular and is 1/1 ITM at the Spa.

Race #9 – G1 Whitney – 1 1/8 – 5:46 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections – #6 – Gun Runner / #5 – Keen Ice / #4 -Tu Brutus

#6 – Gun Runner = Impressive son of Candy Ride for the Asmussen barn. He ran a solid 2nd in the Dubai World Cup and came back 3 months later to score in the G1 Stephen Foster. He ran 3rd in the Travers last year and owns some bullet works over the Oklahoma training track. He is maturing into a machine and has some big plans for later down the road. #5 – Keen Ice = Jose Ortiz for Todd Pletcher (23%) the past 2 months. They bring a son of Curlin to post and made the same travels as Gun Runner and came back to win the G2 Suburban at Belmont. He’s 1/1 at the Spa and has the hot hand of Ortiz. #4 – Tu Brutus = Speedy son of Scat Daddy who will try to go flag to finish. He was a beaten favorite last out and this Chilean-bred can set some blistering fraction if left alone with Irad Ortiz.

Mountaineer

Race #8 – G3 West Virginia Derby – 1 1/8 – 5:21 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections – #3 – Patch / #5 – Impressive Edge / #7 – Colonelsdarktemper

#3 – Patch = 3-yr-old son of Union Rags exits the Belmont and been off for 56 days. Cuts back from a distance which may be more to his liking. They score (22%) off long layoffs and if you go back to Fair Grounds he was a close 2nd to Girvin who won the Haskell last weekend. Tyler Gafflione in the saddle and will have an honest pace to take a closing run. Rider and trainer have been winning (38%) the past two months and today they wear the Calumet silks. #5 – Impressive Edge = Robby Albarado for Dale Romans and they are 2nd off the layoff. They bring a son of Harlan’s Holiday to post and have faced some tough guys in his past. Albarado rides well for Romans (19%) and could be very dangerous today. #7 – Colonelsdarktemper = Son of Colonel John and has been knocking on the door. He owns some sparkling works including a bullet after the G2 Indiana Derby. Ever since the Pat Day Mile, he has looked better with every start.

Del Mar Race #6 – G2 Sorrento – 6 1/2 f – Two-yr-old fillies – 7:30 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections – #6 – Diamondsandpearls / #1 – Surrender Now / #2 – Spectator

#6 – Diamondsandpearls = Mike Smith aboard for Bob Baffert (67%) the past 60 days and this daughter of Congrats had an impressive maiden win. Her works are hot and a stalking trip off the pace may be the order of the day. Smith comes alive for the big races and it is never too early to start finding yourself a 2-yr-old filly for down the road. #1 – Surrender Now = Flavien Pratt and Peter Miller come to post with a daughter of Morning Line. Her sire wins (19%) with her first-time starters and did not disappoint that day. #2 – Spectator = Daughter of Jimmy Creed wins (31%) with his firster’s and did not disappoint winning by 5 3/4 for the Phil D’Amato barn. Jamie Theriot aboard and has every possibility for a big move forward.

Race #8 – G2 Yellow Ribbon – 1 1/16 on the turf – 8:30 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections – #6 – Pretty Gal / #7 – Cambodia / #4 – Juno

#6 – Pretty Gal = Mike Smith in the irons for Paulo Lobo. Smith wins (20%) with his turf runners and this daughter of Harlan’s Holiday is cutting back from 1 1/8 – 1 1/16. She drops in class from the G1 Gamely and could track from the back of the pack looking to make a sustained late rally. She is 6/10 ITM on the sod and is in the right hands today. #7 – Cambodia = Draden Van Dyke for Thom Proctor and they bring a daughter of War Front to post making her second off the layoff. She ships in from Parx and Proctor wins (21%) with a new face in the barn. She is 8/8 ITM on the green and can play the role of an up-close stalker. #4 – Juno = Gary Stevens is the pilot for Neil Drysdale and he wins (23%) on the weeds. She can dictate the pace and lose the field if left alone. She is 7/10 ITM on the greensward, and since getting Lasix three back she’s been knocking on the door.

BetPTC.com – Horses to Watch – 10/26/15

Horses to Watch – Ed Meyer

There are only five days until we see the kickoff for the 32nd edition of the Breeders’ Cup. – The Kentucky Derby is for the masses who enjoy the finery of the day, and take part in the spectacle that captures the attention of the sporting world. The Breeders’ Cup has always been a time where gamblers, punters, and anyone who enjoys a good wager has the opportunity to watch and wager on the world’s best. – This year may be the great crossover for the melting pot of racing fans as Keeneland has taken over the reins this year. You will see every type of fan under the sun, and there are accommodations that are sure to please fans from all walks. To say I’m excited is like saying a young child wants to sleep in on Christmas morning with a bevy of gifts under the tree. – As we focus on the greatest weekend to be a horse player, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for these runners and their next start at the races. – Best of luck this weekend !

Parx – 10/20/15 – Race #4 – #5 – 5f on the turf

#5 – Merry’s Honor = Joshua Navarro had the mount, and was begging out for running room down the lane. When you are sprinting a quick distance it only takes a momentary check along the rail or running up on heels to keep you out of the winner’s circle. – He was held up under stout restraint and once he had a path it was a quick turn of foot and a dirty nose short of getting the job done. – Look for this runner next up as he had handfuls of runner down the stretch.

Keeneland – 10/21/15 – Race #4 – #3 – 1 1/8 on the turf

#3 – Hunter O’Riley = The hot hand of Corey Lanerie had the call for Joe Sharp, and this runner did everything but win. He started rolling like a down bound train and shifted out for clear sailing. He was bested by Dissident who exited the (G-3) Pilgrim and came back into the maiden ranks. The winner ran against three runners who you’ll see this weekend, and to only lose by a nose gives us no excuse, but a great deal of hope when you see him at Churchill Downs.

Keeneland -10/21/15 – Race #6 – #1 – 1 1/16 on the dirt

#1 – Cold Dish = This filly had the services of Calvin Borel, and with his new agent of Larry Melancon aboard. I am looking forward to seeing “Calvin Bo-Rail” bring this gal right back at CD. He broke from the 1 post and shifted into the three path for a better run. He had the lead for a brief second or two at (8-1), and was beaten in a tough photo by a nose. – Look for a return to the Twin Spires where Calvin has done very well in past meets.

Keeneland – 10/22/15 – Race #5 – #4 – 7f on the dirt

#4 – Vanity Feature = Marcelino Pedroza had the call for the red-hot Tom Drury barn winning (31%). – He broke a bit slow, and was tussled around leaving the gate. Once he regained composure he took over the lead and looked like a winner nearing the 1/4 pole. He was eventually wore down under the salty fractions of 110.1. – Team Drury is one to keep your eye on and you can bet dollars to donuts he’ll have all the screws tightened down for the Turfway Park meet.

Keeneland- 10/21/15 – Race #7 – #9 – 1 3/16 on the turf

#9 – Bullard’s Alley = This 35-1 shot was handled by Marcelino Pedroza and gave his backers something to root for down the lane. His trainer Tim Glyshaw was happy with the run, but actually thought he could win despite being dismissed by the public. – He swung out wide to make his rally and bumped and bothered his foes a few times. He’ll be a handful down the long stretch at Churchill Downs.

Belmont Park – 10/24/15 – Race 10- #5 – 1 1/16 on the dirt

#5 – Temper Mint Patty = Luis Saez had the call for Todd Pletcher, and was forced to go four wide around the turn, and had to go out even farther to find her best stride. Once she had her mind on business, she leveled out nicely and made a solid move to be second. – I think with a little kinder trip she’ll give them fits down the lane.

Belmont Park – 10/24/15 – Race #11 -#2 – 1 1/16 on the turf

#2 – Neck of the Moon = Irad Ortiz at the controls for Chad Brown, and this mare broke outward when the gates sprang open and he was forced to take up his mount just a bit. Once she got moving all was looking well and shifted out four wide and settled down for the stretch run. – She was motoring late for the red-hot connections, and give this race a pass as she compromised quite bit from post #9 in a full field, and this leaves little to no room for any added pressure. – She’ll circle the field next out, and be on the lookout for this runner from the Chad Brown barn.
