#2 Midnight Bisou has been on the shelf for 48 days and has the services of Mike Smith in the irons. This daughter of Midnight Lute is 12 for 12 ITM lifetime and Smith fits like a glove for the Steve Asmussen barn. She is a perfect 5 for 5 at the distance and her Fair Grounds works have been very nice.  #4 Eskimo Kisses hails from the Ken McPeek barn with Alex Canchari in the saddle. She’s been off for 5 months getting beat as the odds on chalk in the G1 Spinster at Keeneland. She has been vacationing at Payson and comes in fresh. Eskimo has been in many races with MB and she may be a well rested gal looking to start the year off right. #5 Elate comes from the Bill Mott barn and has been off for six months. Jose Ortiz gets the call and he wins 20% when hooking up with Mott. She was beaten by a neck to Abel Tasman last out at Saratoga and some hot works at Payson Park coming into the race.

His victory in the Los Al Futurity was super impressive and Van Dyke stays in the driver’s seat for Baffert. He has a perfect stalking stride and can be dangerous anywhere on the track. #1 Extra Hope makes his 2nd start of the year and Richard Mandella gets the hot boot, Mike Smith after Prat stays on the speedy Galilean. He is a nice stalker and maybe maturing just at the right time.

Race #10 – The G2 Rebel – 1 1/16 – 7:06 pm EDT – (Split Divisions)

BetPTC.com Selections / #5 – Game Winner / #8 – Gunmetal Gray / #7 – Our Braintrust

#5 Game Winner is a son of Candy Ride who is a perfect 4 for 4 with Bob Baffert. Joel Rosario is the reinsman as this colt is making his first start of the year. This colt is a monster stalker and with plenty of early foot, he looks like a big time candidate to put in a huge effort. #8 Gunmetal Gray is making the third off the layoff angle and has tangled against Game Winner. Flavien Prat is back aboard and Hollendorfer brings another maturing runner to post. This son of Exchange Rate is a stone cold closer. He’s gonna need plenty of early pace and get the jump on Gamer Winner to be the best on this day. #7 Our Braintrust is a son of Freud for the Mark Casse barn. He ships in from Aqueduct and gets a rider change to David Cohen winning 23% at the meet. He cuts back in distance and has some sharp works to prepare.

Three back she was a strong winner at Kentucky Downs and ships in from CD winning by 10 lengths. She has solid works at Palm Meadows and returns to the turf. #4 What a Beaut hails from the Mark Casse barn with Paco Lopez in the driver’s seat. She will come calling late as they turn for home.

He is 1 for 1 at GP and two races back ran in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf. Tyler Gaffalione in the saddle and should be a strong factor late in the race. #6 Bourbon in May is a son of More Than Ready for the Todd Pletcher barn winning 23%. #6 Mihos is a son of Cairo Prince for trainer James Jerkins. He ships in from Aqueduct and won impressively as the odds-on favorite. This is his 2nd start off the layoff and the barn wins 27% with shippers. Look for him to be close to the pace and battle it out on the front end. #4 Code of Honor hails from the Shug McGaughey barn with John Velasquez in the irons. He’s been away for three months and owns a sparkling work at Payson going 48 flat. His dam has 7 starters and 7 winners to her credit. Last out he dropped to the level and should be leading the pack when they break from the gate.

BetPTC.com Horses to Watch – 4/17/17

Tom Petty said it best; The Waiting is the hardest part. – I’m not rocking out; I’m talking about the countdown to the greatest two minutes in sports. The preps are in the books and the waiting game begins. You’ll start your process of combing through the data and watching replays. You’ll glance over late works and who arrives when. And just when you think you’ve cornered the handicapping zone, there will be a defection or two that may send you back to the drawing board. – In the meantime, time is of the essence and here are some runners who are good candidates to build your bankroll. – Best of luck from your friends at BetPTC.com !

Race #7 – #4 – Alasaal – 1 mile on the turf

Joe Bravo in the irons for Kiaran McLaughlin as they brought this son of War Front to post. – He led all the way and set some pretty quick fractions. Down the lane Bravo tried to take his mount as far as he could and started weaving a bit down the lane. He drifted into the paths of some other runners and the objection sign hit the board. After a few minutes, there was no action taken. “Jersey-Joe” is a 4% winning rider on the turf, and that is not a true reflection of his ability on the sod. I’m looking for the speedster to take em’ to the winner’s circle at a square price.

Keeneland

4/13/17

Race #4 – #10 Major Force – 6f

Javier Castellano in the saddle for Arnaud Delacour and they were sandwiched and pinched back badly at the start spotting the field at least 10 lengths. He made an “Arazi-like” move around the far turn making up a quick 15 lengths in a few strides. He began weaving in and out of traffic and his fast closing fourth is a promising sign. Hopefully we’ll see a return in the final days of the meet.

Keeneland

4/14/17

Race #9 – #1 – Blacktype – G-1 Maker’s Mile Turf

Joel Rosario the pilot for Christophe Clement. He was coming in off a 4 month vacation and working well at Payson Park. He drafted behind a rapid pace and kicked off the rail at the 1/4 pole seeking clear sailing. – As they turned for home he was kept in tight along the rail by eventual winner American Patriot under Castellano. – He didn’t get out for the big move and was wrapped up tightly by Rosario. He had no place to go, and you can follow this runner right back with confidence.

Keeneland

4/15/17

Race #6 – #6 – Perro Rojo – 1 1/8

Nik Juarez in the saddle for Nick Zito (20%) and they had a strong son good looking son of Birdstone. – He was only 1/7 ITM lifetime but had faced some of the tough guys multiple times. Names like; Irish War Cry, Gunnevera, Classic Empire, and McCracken. It was the old story of the company you keep, and this (25-1) shot looked the value play. Juarez was stock-still in the saddle and started making a move in the final quarter mile. He made an explosive late move only to be immediately snatched up and checked strongly. This colt will score and light up the board. Just keep your eyes peeled.
