Belmont Race #4 – The $100,000 Awad – 1 mile on the turf – 2:22 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #9 – Law and Order / #6 – Empire of War / #4 – Absolved

#9 Law and Order is a son of Violence shipping in from Laurel Park. Fergal Lynch is the pilot and exits off a strong closing win in the Laurel Futurity going 6f on the turf. He gets added distance and Lynch wins 17% on the turf. Trainer Louis Linder wins 19% on the year and 13% with his shippers. He should be closing from off the pace but much closer than last out. #6 Empire of War is a speedy colt from the Todd Pletcher barn who just broke his maiden going this far last out. Manny Franco is the reinsman and went wire to wire from the #11 post last out. He has solid morning works and last out showed promise going long. If left alone on the front end could be very dangerous. #4 Absolved is a son of Blame who should get a perfect mid pack stalking trip. Trainer Claudio Gonzalez wins 28% on the year and brings in Kevin Gomez for the call. This is his 3rd off the layoff move and sports a bullet work over the Belmont oval in preparation. His dam Berry Blessed has 9 starters, 7 winners, and 4 turf winners to her credit.

Race #9 – The G3 Bold Ruler – 7f – 5:08 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #6 – Delta Prince / #5 – Petrov / #4 – Coal Front

#6 Delta Prince makes the turf to dirt switch for James Jerkins with Irad Ortiz in the irons. A beaten favorite in the G1 Woodbine Mile. Cutting back to 7f may be an ask for this solid closer, but Ortiz is an excellent judge of pace. His last three works are super and if they are any indication we may be seeing a big effort in here. #5 Petrov is a solid son of Flatter for trainer Ron Moquette. He ships back from Remington Park as a beaten chalk and the barn comes back to score 22% on this move. He should be a mid pack stalker and with that sparkling bullet work, he is bound to take action at the windows. #4 Coal Front has been off for a year from the races. He has shown a great deal of speed for trainer Todd Pletcher who wins 31% with long layoffs. This ridgling is 4 for 5 ITM lifetime with wins and Pletcher can come right off the bench and fire.

Keeneland

Race #9 – The G2 Fayette – 1 1/8 on the dirt – 5:30 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #5 – Leofric / #6 – Hofburg / #1-Prime Attraction

#5 Leofric is a son of Candy Ride who has been away from the races for 56 days for trainer Brad Cox.  Florent Geroux in the saddle and is 2 for 2 with wins. He shows a good work pattern and Cox wins 28% with layoff runners coming back to the races. He exits the G1 Woodward facing Yoshida who was ultra tough that day. He should be forwardly placed and give a great account of himself today. #6 Hofburg exits the G1 Pennsylvania Derby and has faced some of the toughest runners of the year. This son of Tapit has one bad race to his credit and that was the Kentucky Derby. He is a stone cold closer, and Jose Ortiz aboard for trainer Bill Mott do very good work together. #1 Prime Attraction has Kent Desormeaux in the irons for James Cassidy. A mid pack stalker has a dangerous look as he can jump up at any time and run a big effort. He’s always knocking on the door and drawing the rail may be a bonus for Kent D saving all the ground.

Horses to Watch – Ed Meyer

The 149th running of the Belmont is in the books, and it was an incredible day of racing all around. The Belmont left players still asking questions, but that was the same song since early January. The “Test of the Champion” gave punters plenty of options, and it came down to the two most logical runners in the field. – Time marches on and there is plenty of summer racing to look forward to watching. Here are a few that need a good look before going to the windows. – Best of luck from your friends at BetPTC.com !

Belmont

Race #2 – #8 – You’re to Blame –  The Easy Goer – 1 1/16

Javier Castellano in the irons for Chad Brown, and they have been winning (46%) of the time. 1/1 at Belmont and shipped in off a closing effort in the Pat Day Mile at Churchill Downs. Bumped at the start and spun 6 wide turning for home managing to be second this day.

Race #4 – #7 – Sweet Loretta – G-1 Acorn – 1 mile

Javier Castellano for Todd Pletcher brought a daughter of Tapit who was away from the races for two months. She stumbled badly at the start, and this was a pretty tough bunch. She managed a 4th place effort and should rebound greatly off this awkward beginning.

Race #7 – #11 – Petrov – G-2 Woody Stephens – 7f

Ricardo Santana in the saddle and was making his first start in 56 days since the Arkansas Derby. Santana was caught 4 wide in the turn and 7 wide at the 1/8th pole. He will improve for a summer campaign and Santana is going to ride in New York this year.

Race  #10 – #4 – Time Test – G-1 Manhattan – 1 1/4 on the turf

Castellano in the saddle for Chad Brown and was a beaten favorite shipping in from Arlington. He made a strong effort going 6 wide and is just getting started on a summer campaign.

Belterra Park

Race #5 – #6 Steph and Me – 6 1/2f

John McKee rode the Fairmount invader for trainer Dan O’ Halloran. He drew off easily and is eligible for the same conditions next out. A duplication of this race is not out of the question.

Race #7 – #9 Lethal – 1 mile and 70 yards

John McKee was rolling late in the lane shipping in from Arlington Park. He finished second this day and was 3/4 off the winner. Improvement is soon to arrive the next time he loads in the starting gate.
