Keeneland

Race #9 – The G3 Lexington – 1 1/16 – 5:34 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #9 – Zenden / #10 – Roiland / #2 – Hawaiian Noises

#9 Zenden is a lightly raced son of Fed Biz and has the services of Tyler Gaffalione. He is making a 3rd start off the layoff and owns a bullet work coming into the race.  He should be forwardly placed and his last two races were biased to closers. Look for TG to stay right on the hook and save enough gas down the short stretch. #10 Roiland hails from the Thomas Amoss barn and is a stone cold closer. James Grahm in the saddle and they team up to win 21%. Look for him to circle wide into the far turn. #2 Hawaiian Noises comes from the Wesley Ward barn with Johnny V in the irons. This son of Super Saver has rolled off three in a row and makes the poly to dirt switch winning the $50k Animal Kingdom at Turfway last out. He has worked three straight bullets in the morning and goes from Bejarano to John Velasquez. Go back three races and he broke his maiden going 6f at Keeneland and this will be his first time going two turns. He looks to be an up close sort with the added ground and should knock heads with plenty of early speed.

Race #10 -The G1 Jenny Wiley – 1 1/16 on the turf – 6:12 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #2 – Rushing Fall / #4 – Rymska / #8 – Onthemoonagain

#2 Rushing Fall is a daughter of More Than Ready and is 7 for 7 ITM and a perfect 3 for 3 over the Keeneland sod. She comes from the Chad Brown barn and he looks loaded for bear in this race. This is her first start of the year and comes off a 6 month layoff where Brown wins 29%. She is very versatile and can do about anything asked. She is a neck from a perfect record and Chad Brown has the hot stakes winning rider Javier Castellano in the irons for this effort. #4 Rymska is a French invader from the Chad Brown barn. This is her 3rd off the shelf and won her last where the barn scores at a 28% clip. She is a closer who turns back in distance with the hot hand of Irad Ortiz. He may be one of the best closing riders in the country and will make her appear at the top of the lane looking for the perfect trip. #8 Onthemoonagain is a daughter of Cape Cross for Chad Brown. This is her 2nd start of the year and was flat out rolling in the G2 Hillsborough at Tampa Bay. That looked like a perfect prep as they turn back in distance with a couple nice works under her belt. John Velasquez in the irons and he and Mr. Brown are winning 67% on the year as a team.

Oaklawn

Race #11 – The G1 Arkansas Derby – 1 1/8 – 7:43 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #1 – Improbable / #11 – Long Range Toddy / #7 – Galilean

#1 Improbable hails from the Bob Baffert barn and is a monster. He was bested by a neck last in the G2 Rebel. A rider change from Van Dyke to Jose Ortiz and adding blinkers may be the moves that seal the deal. This is his second start of the year and the works are red hot. Ortiz should have him in the perfect spot as a stalker and pounce with plenty of gas in the tank. #11 – Long Range Toddy comes from the Steve Asmussen barn and is three for three ITM over the Oaklawn surface. He takes to the oval and his last race rolling late to win the G2 Rebel was impressive. Distance should be no problem and Jon Court will get his best down the lane. #7 – Galilean is a speedy son of Uncle Mo and Flavien Prat in town to ride for the  Hollendorfer barn. He will be right on the engine and Prat is an excellent judge of pace. If he gets loose this California invader may enjoy his second trip over the track. Blinkers off show they are looking for answers today.

Aqueduct

Race #10 – The G2 Wood Memorial – 1 1/8 – 6:00 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #1 – Tax / #4 – Haikal / #2 – Tacitus

#1 Tax is a son of Arch for the Danny Gargan barn with Junior Alvarado in the irons. This gelded son of Arch should be up close and settle nicely. His victory in the G3 Withers was better than appeared as he stumbled and still hung in to win. Alvarado is rolling to the winner’s circle at a 24% clip at Aqueduct. #4 Haikal comes from the barn of Kiaran McLaughlin with Rajiv Maragh in the driver’s seat. He is looking for his 4th straight win and 3rd off the layoff for this stone cold closer. He may be maturing at the right time and I’m looking for a strong effort. #2 Tacitus is a son of Tapit for Bill Mott. He’s a perfect stalker and should enjoy the added ground. 2nd start of the year and 2nd time Lasix where Mott wins 20% on the medication change.

Keeneland

Race #10 – The G2 Bluegrass – 1 1/8 – 6:23 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #2 – Vekoma / #8 – Win Win Win / #11 – So Alive

#2 Vekoma exits the G2 Fountain of Youth off a less than ideal trip. They switch riders from Manny Franco to Javier Castellano and he is the new ‘money man.’ 2nd time Lasix for this son of Candy Ride for George Weaver and he should get a perfect stalking trip. He is lightly raced and deserves serious consideration before making a wager. The barn wins 25% on the medication move and the rider change is a positive sign. #8 Win Win Win is a son of Hat Trick for the Mike Trombetta barn. He was a beaten favorite in the Tampa Bay Derby rolling 5 wide and shows a red hot work. Irad Ortiz back in the saddle and that moves his chances up greatly. #11 So Alive is a son of Super Saver and is a bit of an outside shooter. He is lightly raced and has the services of Luis Saez in the saddle. He can easily pick up his head and come rolling for minor awards today.

Santa Anita

Race #8 – The G1 Santa Anita Derby – 1 1/8 – 6:30 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #6 – Game Winner / #5 – Instagrand / #3 – Nolo Contesto

#6 Game Winner is a monster son of Candy Ride. Joel Rosario has the call for Bob Baffert and they were getting to them late in the G2 Rebel getting beat a dirty nose. Overall, he didn’t have to win the race and use all his gas, but he looked terrific just picking them up late in the lane. I think he is a good looking colt and it looks like Team Baffert is loaded again. His race to lose at Santa Anita. #5 Instagrand is a speedy son of Into Mischief and Flavien Prat will be calling the shots. He is lightly raced and owns some sparkling works at Los Al in preparation for this big race. If he gets loose and can go the distance he may play a perfect role of the spoiler. #3 Nolo Contesto is a perfect stalker who had an eventful trip last out. He’s gonna need his A game against this compact field as Joe Talamo picks up the action in the saddle. The added ground won’t hurt and Talamo has sprung his fair share of upsets.

Santa Anita

Race #6 – #2 – Pacific Wind – G-2 Honeymoon – 1 1/8 on the turf

A very nice daughter of Curlin who won at first asking over the SA turf. She has the look of a good stalker and hails from the barn of Peter Eurton (21%). This was her first start off a brief freshening and stepped up in class. She has hooked the winner the winner Sir Cat Sally twice, and was a troubled third both times. – She has a good late kick but we didn’t get a chance to see it as she was forced to steady off heels into the turn. Once she got it together she made a solid run for the show dough.

Race #9 – #3 – It Tiz Well – G-2 Summertime Oaks – 1 1/16

Mike Smith teamed up with Jerry Hollendorfer, and they know the way to the winner’s circle. She has faced some tough gals, and was (2-1) against the Kentucky Oaks winner Abel Tasman in the G-1 SA Oaks. She was forced to steady in the first turn, and again when she turned for home and tried to squeeze up the inside. – Toss this race, but you’ll have to use her in multi-race exotics to get the value you deserve.

6/17/17

Belterra Park

Race #1 – #6 – Cap’s Tale – 5f on the turf

It was his 3rd start off the layoff shipping in from Churchill Downs. This son of Tale of the Cat was stepping up in class and cutting back in distance. The turf rail was out 18 feet, and he managed a stout closing effort where speed rules the day. “Pede” Prentice split runners gaining quickly and is sure to bring the same game and more next time.

Race #4 – #9 – Sacred Promise – 1 mile on the turf

This son of Super Saver was making his first start on the turf for trainer Kellyn Gorder. He has travelled to Indiana, Turfway, Mahoning Valley and now Belterra. – He broke slowly at the break and circled six wide on a turf course that had the rail set 18 feet out. – I wouldn’t rule out another jump in class, and with a little cleaner trip he’ll give them fits.

Race #5 – #3 — Backsplash – 1 mile on the main track

Perry Ouzts aboard the Cleveland invader who left Thistledown off a win. She is a gamer who likes to run late and ready to ply her trade at Belterra. She bobbled at the start and looked awkward for most of the race. Once she got in gear, she managed a 5 wide run to be a bridesmaid this day. She is one to play right back no matter where she runs.
