Two back she went from a sprint to a one turn mile at CD in the Rags to Riches four wide gaining on the winner. She should benefit from the high percentage Castellano 25% at Aqueduct and be much closer to the action. 2nd route races yield a 21% win clip from the Wilkes barn. #1 Enliven comes from the Kiaran McLaughlin stable and is a stone cold closer. She ran a very game 3rd in the G3 Tempted and gets the services of Jersey Joe Bravo. The rail is winning 28% and she’ll come calling late in the lane. #6 Afleet Destiny comes off a quick closing effort at Parx for Uriah St. Lewis with strong closing rider Irad Ortiz in the irons. Race #8 – The G2 Remsen – 1 1/8 – 3:12 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #5 – Network Effect / #6 – Maximus Mischief / #3 -Bourbon War

#5 Network Effect is a solid closer in a race filled with speed. He hails from the Chad Brown barn with Javier Castellano in the driver’s seat. He had a very nice maiden break at Saratoga and came rolling 6 wide last out. He should relish the added distance and Brown wins 36% going second time at the route distance. #6 Maximus Mischief is a speedy colt who is seeking his third straight win coming in from Parx. Frankie Pennington comes in for the ride and will be sending this son of Into MIschief right to the lead. He has a bullet work on 11/16 at Parx and looks ready for the next step. #3 Bourbon War comes from the Mark Hennig barn with Irad Ortiz in the irons. He has a win at the “Big A” and appears to be a perfect stalking sort. Ortiz is an excellent closing rider and this son of Tapit may get right in the game at the top of the stretch.

#3 Sunny Ridge is a son of Holy Bull for the Jason Servis barn. Irad Ortiz has the call and they team up to win 34%. He exits the G2 Kelso going a mile and should enjoy the distance where he is 5 for 5 ITM. Manny Franco to Ortiz, and a solid stalker in the field. I’m looking for a big effort getting the job done around the far turn. #8 Pattern Recognition comes in off a win in the G2 Kelso and should be a major pace player for the Chad Brown barn. He is 2 for 2 at Aqueduct and looks for three in a row. I think Jose Ortiz will send and he’s one of the best speed riders in the nation. #1 Mendelssohn is a son of Scat Daddy for Aidan O’Brien with Ryan Moore in the saddle. He’ll show good speed, and Moore is always dangerous anytime he takes a mount. He’s cutting back from a mile and a quarter and may improve at the shorter distance.

Keeneland

Race #8 – The G1 First Lady – 1 mile on the turf – 4:40 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #2 – A Raving Beauty / #4 – Crown Walk / #10 – Off Limits

#2 A Raving Beauty is a daughter of Mastercraftsman for trainer Chad Brown. Brown has three entered and his eyes are set on the prize. She was a beaten favorite in the G2 Ballston Spa and has a solid closing kick. I’m dismissing her last effort as a bad day at the office and look forward to the cutback in distance where she is four for seven ITM. Brown wins 26% with turf runners and John Velasquez knows his way to the winner’s circle. #4 Crown Walk is a daughter of Dubawi for trainer Henri-Alex Pantall. She is 6 for 7 ITM on the turf and gets Lasix today. She exits the Gr1 Prix Rothschild and has the services of Mike Smith. She ships in from Deauville and is a solid filly looking to test the waters. #10 Off Limits comes to post for trainer Chad Brown with Julien Leparoux in the irons. She’s a half sister to A Raving Beauty and is an out of the clouds closing sort. She’ll need a quick pace to come calling late in the lane.

BetPTC.com Selections / #8 – Tobacco Road / #5 – Dream Maker / #13 – Mind Control

#8 Tobacco Road has Corey Lanerie in the saddle for Steve Asmussen. Last out in the G3 Iroquois they were bumped around and forced wide. I like the distance progression and 8.5f should be no problem. His dam has 8 starters, 6 winners, 3 stakes winners, and is 75% with two year olds. He’s a closer and should relish the added ground and cleaner trip. #5 Dream Maker is a son of Tapit for trainer Mark Casse with Julien Leparoux in the driver’s seat. He owns a bullet work over the Keeneland oval in preparation. Leparoux knows the oval and Casse has always done well in Kentucky. The final work was the best of 113 runners and that is pretty impressive. I like his chances and the 2nd off the layoff move is a plus. #13 Mind Control is a son of Stay Thirsty with John Velasquez in the saddle. He exits off a win in the G1 Hopeful looking to make it three straight. He sports versatile speed and owns a bullet work at Monmouth coming into the race.

He is two for two going a mile and cuts back in distance from 9f. He is 1 for 1 at Keeneland and looks to get a perfect stalking trip. Beaten favorite last time out and been off for 56 days. Johnny V should have him in a good spot turning for home. #11 Almanaar is a son of Dubawi for Chad Brown and Javier Castellano. He’s a strong late closer who has been on the shelf for 56 days since running a 2nd place effort in the Arlington Million. Lightly raced, and his dam Baqah has 3 starters, 3 winners, 1 stakes winner, and 3 turf winners. #14 Bound for Nowhere comes in for trainer Wesley Ward with Julio Garcia aboard. She has four solid works under her belt and Pletcher scores 25% coming back off a beaten favorite angle. She gets added distance and this race should fit her nicely. #3 Virginia Eloise is a daughter of Curlin for the Pletcher barn. She broke her maiden at first asking and raced a little green last out while putting together a big run down the lane. Javier Castellano in the saddle and she’ll track the pace looming a major danger. #7 Chasing Yesterday is a daughter of Tapit for the Bob Baffert barn. “Money Man” Mike Smith in the saddle as she was an impressive maiden winner on July, 28th. BetPTC.com Selections / #9 Gunnevera / #1 Yoshida / #10 Seeking the Soul

#9 Gunnevera comes to post for trainer Antonio Sano with Edgard Zayas in the saddle. This son of Dialed In ran into a wall in the Dubai World Cup two races back and came in off a 5 month layoff to score easily in the perfect prep. He’s had some problems in the past but looks healthy and ready for a big coming out party. He’s 2 for 2 ITM at Saratoga and makes the 2nd off the layoff move. I’m looking for a mature and ready runner to strut his stuff. #1 Yoshida is a Japanese bred runner for trainer Bill Mott. Joel Rosario in the irons and comes off a good effort at Ascot two back in the Gr1 Queen Anne. One thing for sure. Mott would not have him entered if he had any doubts about his ability. Bill Mott is 40% making the turf to dirt switch and it would be best not to count him out just yet. #10 Seeking the Soul is a son of Perfect Soul for talented trainer Dallas Stewart. He was a beaten favorite at Indiana last out and that was his last start since the Pegasus Cup in January. He’s 2 for 2 ITM at Saratoga and owns some very nice works to show readiness.

This son of Kitten’s Joy is a closer and may relish the drop from graded company. Tyler Gafflione in town and he scores at a 19% clip on the turf.

#1 Sombeyay hails from the Todd Pletcher barn with Javier Castellano in the irons. He’s had two eventful trips but his race in the Tremont was impressive. He stumbled at the start and came rolling late. He sports a bullet work over the deep Saratoga training course putting the final touch on his preparation.

#7 Bano Solo is a son of Goldenscents from the Steve Asmussen barn. His sire fires 16% first time winners and did not disappoint at Churchill. His workout pattern has been sharp and I’m looking for a top effort.

#2 Proctor’s Ledge has Jose Ortiz in the driver’s seat for trainer Brendan Walsh. A daughter of Ghostzapper who is 2 for 2 over the course and finished a solid place effort in the G1 Just A Game at Belmont. She loves the course and has some solid works under her belt.

Keeneland

Race #9 – The G2 Fayette Stakes – 1 1/8 – 5:30 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #5 – Honorable Duty / #6 – McCraken / #2 – Neolithic

#5 – Honorable Duty = Corey Lanerie in the irons as he is making his 2nd start off a brief layoff. His impressive win in the Lukas Classic shows he’s ready to get back to work and is 1/1 over the course. The distance should be no problem as he is 3/5 ITM going this far. #6 – McCraken = Brian Hernandez for Ian Wilkes and they are bringing this son of Ghostzapper off a 3-month layoff. His dismal effort in the G1 Travers showed he needed to have a little time down, and a brief summer freshening is just what the doctor ordered. He has a solid work tab and hasn’t seen Keeneland since he was a beaten favorite in the Bluegrass. Look for a whole new runner. #2 – Neolithic = Speedy son of Harlan’s Holiday has been off for 56 days since the G1 Woodward. Look for Robby Albarado to send right to the lead and steal this race for the Pletcher barn.

BetPTC.com Selections = #7 – Off Limits / #10 – Penjade / #8 -Westit

#7 – Off Limits = Joel Rosario in the saddle for Chad Brown and they are scoring at a 33% clip the past few months. She’s been the picture of consistency in 2017 and is looking to make it 3-in-a-row after taking down the G3 Noble Damsel. She is 3/4 over the Belmont turf and going from a mile to 1 1/16 looks to fit her like a glove. #10 – Penjade = Irad Ortiz has the call for Chad Brown and they have been doing good work as a team. She is 4/4 ITM over the Belmont sod and looking to make it four straight in 2017. This daughter of Air Chief Marshall is taking a big step in class but her recent efforts warrant a hard look at scoring at a price. #8 – Westit = Manny Franco aboard this daughter of Tapit as she ships in from France.  She has run on synthetic, turf, and faced the boys many times in France. If the ground has a little cut on Saturday I would give her a good look to complete your exotics.

Race #8 – The G3 Turnback the Alarm – 1 1/16 – 4:16 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #3 – Miss Sky Warrior / #5 – Birdatthewire / #2 – Tejana

#3 – Miss Sky Warrior = Javier Castellano in the irons for Kelly Breen. She’s been away for 5 months since the Kentucky Oaks and her morning works show a filly ready to roll. She cuts back in distance and drops in class and this should make her a major danger. Castellano takes over for Paco Lopez and if her last bullet work is any indication she’ll be tough to handle. #5 – Birdatthewire = Manny Franco teams up with Thom Proctor. She’s coming off a two-month break and has been working very well. She adds distance and Franco did an excellent job in the G1 Ballerina last out finishing 4th. #2 – Tejana = Speedy daughter of Curlin has the services of one of the best speed riders in the country with Jose Ortiz. This daughter of Mastercraftsman is a stone cold closer and with a salty pace expected he should benefit greatly. He is 2/3 ITM at Belmont and the barn is 13/26 the last 14 days. Look for a big run at the top of the lane. #2 – Sassy Little Lila = She has a blast of speed to be respected. A daughter of Artie Schiller and Julien Leparoux in the irons for Brad Cox. She faced the boys last out in the G1 4 Star Dave. – If she grabs the lead she could be a tough customer this day. #1 – Celestine = Irad Ortiz aboard for Clement and draws the rail with plenty of early foot. She is 3/4 ITM over the course and exits the G1 Just a Game. Plenty of tactical speed under a talented reinsman.

Race #10 – The G1 Cotillion – 1 1/16 – 4:55 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #9 – Abel Tasman / #10 – Salty / #5 – It Tiz Well

#9 – Abel Tasman = The Kentucky Oaks winner brings Bob Baffert and Mike Smith to post. The daughter of Quality Road is cutting back from 1 1/4 and is looking to make it 4-in-a-row. Her morning works are sparkling and the connections are always tough when the money is on the line. Look for a stoute closing effort and the “Money Man” to get rolling late in the lane. #10 – Salty = Tyler Gafflione for Mark Casse. She is 6/7 ITM lifetime and always comes calling late. Look for more of the same as this talented young rider can get to the winner’s circle with a little racing luck. – #5 – It Tiz Well = Drayden Van Dyke for Jerry Hollendorfer and this daughter of Arch is a solid pace player. She should be up close and stalking looking to move just at the right time.

Race #11 – The G1 Pennsylvania Derby – 1 1/8 – 5:45 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections = #4 – West Coast / #8 – Irish War Cry / #5 – Irap

#4 – West Coast = This son of Flatter is starting to show the signs of a real monster on the track. Bob Baffert and Smith team up looking for 5-in-a-row. After his impressive win in the G1 Travers, he has the full attention of handicappers. He cuts back from 1 1/4 and the trainer wins (35%) off a last race win. His race to lose. #8 – Irish War Cry = This son of Curlin should be forwardly placed under Fergal Lynch for Graham Motion. Ever since the Derby he is starting to look his old self but may be catching a tough guy in West Coast this day. He’ll bring his “A” game and that has to be considered before hitting the windows. #5 – Irap = Ever since winning the Ohio Derby he has gained respect. They are cutting back from 1 1/4 and the lesser distance may fit him well. Mario Gutierrez for Doug O’Neill and they are winning (20%) the past few months as a team. A perfect stalker who can be a major player at the top of the lane.

#2 – Hollywood Star = Robby Albarado in the saddle for Dale Romans. 2-yr-old son of Malibu Moon and won his Mdn start at CD and came back to run a game effort in the G2 Saratoga Special. His numbers are strong and exits off a sparkling work at CD. I’m thinking there may some distance questions down the road but the 1 1/16 in definitely in his scope. #1 – Ten City =Jack Gilligan aboard for Kenny McPeek and the trainer was quoted as saying “this may be one of the most talented runners he has trained.” – His last effort at Ellis was surprising as a beaten chalk who goes from 7f to 1 1/16. Should get a good stalking trip close to the rail. #7 – Flameaway = Julien Leparoux in the irons for Mark Casse. The barn has faced some tough Euro-turf runners. This son of Scat Daddy is 2/2, and the distance should not be a problem. I went back and watched his last replay and it may be better than the results may tell. I like his chances today.

Julien may be staying in Louisville looking for a gal to take to the big dances coming up. #8 – Sunny Skies = Robby Albarado in the saddle for Ken McPeek and 1/1 at CD. McPeek wins (20%) going sprint to a route and this daughter of Animal Kingdom may be a major player. #10 – Upset Brewing = 2/2 ITM at CD for trainer “Buff” Bradley. Her dam Ideal has 4 starts with 4 turf winners and is making her 3rd off the layoff move and adding distance. She could fit the race with a well timed Ortiz ride. #1 – Quidara = Daughter of Dubawi and looks to be the one to beat from the Motion barn. Junior Alvarado aboard and she exits the G1 Diana at Saratoga bested by a head from the turf monster Lady Eli. The race goes through this filly if you want the winner. #5 – Starship Jubilee = 2nd off the layoff move and cuts back in distance from 1 3/8. She’s locked horns with the boys in the G2 Sky Classic and is a close-up stalker in the hands of Eurico Da Silva.

BetPTC.com Selections – #4 – Messi / #8 – Hawkbill / #5 – Pumpkin Rumble

#4 – Messi = Jose Ortiz in the irons for Graham Motion. He is 1/1 at Woodbine and been in the shelf for 57 days. He should be forwardly placed and Ortiz is an excellent judge of pace. Solid work tab and well-rested runners do well for the barn (19%). #8 – Hawkbill = Colm O’Donoghue for Charles Applebee. This is a son of Kitten’s Joy and gets Lasix shipping in from Group 1 company in Germany. He is 8/13 ITM on turf and faced some very tough Euro turfers. He is 3/3 ITM at the distance and should be mid-pack today. #5 – Pumpkin Rumble = Speedy son of English Channel who should be the pace setter. Jesse Campbell in the irons and 2/3 ITM going this distance.

Race #12 – G1 Woodbine Mile – 1 mile on the turf – 6:34 pm ET

BetPTC.com Selections – #6 – Deauville / #8 – Mondialiste / #1 – World Appeal

#6 – Deauville = Jamie Spencer for Aidan O’Brien. They bring a son of Galileo exiting the Arlington Million as a beaten favorite. Spencer takes over for Ryan Moore and they cut back from 1 1/4 – 1 mile and a shot at a qualifying spot for the Breeders’ Cup. He’s run well on this side of the pond and lesser distance could play into his plans. #8 – Mondialiste = Jose Ortiz in the irons for David O’Meara. 1/1 at Woodbine and the Lasix sure helped his causes in the past. He is 9/16 ITM at the distance and been off since York in late August. #1 – World Appeal = John Velasquez for Mark Casse and exits a strong win in the G1 FourStarDave. Casse comes into the race loaded, and a stalking trip just off the pace might be in the cards.
