BetPTC.com Selections = #4 – Nonna Mela / #7 – Tequilita / #9 – Classy Tune
#4 – Nonna Mela = Daughter of Arch from the Todd Pletcher barn. She exits the G2 Prioress at Saratoga where she ran a very game 2nd place finish. She’s been away for 48 days and goes from 6f to 7f. The race sets up for her to be forwardly placed and if you go back two races she relished the distance winning by 4 1/2. #7 – Tequilita = Daughter of Union Rags comes from the Michael Matz barn. She is a perfect 1/1 at Keeneland breaking her maiden over the course, and last out won the G2 Charles Town Oaks. She is 4/4 ITM going 7f and is a late closing runner who will rely on Fergal Lynch to call the shots turning for home. #9 – Classy Tune = Daughter of Maclean’s Tune ships in from Del Mar where the barn wins 18% of the time. She’s been away for 46 days and was a beaten favorite last out where Simon Callaghan wins 29% on this move.
Race #5 – The $300,000 Empire Classic – 1 1/8 – 2:34 pm ET
BetPTC.com Selections = #3 -Twisted Tom / #4 – Control Group / #7 – Testosterstone
#3 – Twisted Tom = Javier Castellano for Chad Brown winning at a 22% clip the past two months. This son of Creative Cause is 2/2 in his efforts facing New York company and was ultra impressive winning the $250,000 Albany Stakes at Saratoga. He’s been away from the races for 57 days and a perfect 2/2 at the distance. He should get a perfect close up stalking trip and when given the cue should make his presence felt. #4 – Control Group = Irad Ortiz in the saddle for Rudy Rodriguez and this son of Posse does every well against New York runners. This is a huge step in class, but the colt is looking for his 4th straight win and there seems no better time to test the waters. #7 – Testosterstone = John Velazquez in the irons for Gary Sciacca and this son of Birdstone has been racing outside of New York company for awhile. When he does face New York-breds, he owns a strong late kick evident at Finger Lakes back in the summer.

BetPTC.com Selections = #6 – Bonita Bianca / #8 – Literata / #9 – Five Star Rampage

She won the $250,000 Maid of the Mist last year and looks to notch another big payday here. #8 – Literata = Daughter of Read the Footnotes is making her 2nd start off a brief summer freshening. She drops back in against New York company and has been very effective against state-breds. She’ll be in mid-pack looking for a time to strike. #9 – Five Star Rampage = Daughter of Quality Road looks to make it 3-in-a-row. She is 2/3 ITM over the Belmont oval and owns a bullet work going 3f in 37.1 – She’ll be forwardly placed and Johnny V can use her tactical speed to her best advantage.
Race #10 – The $150,000 Maryland Million Classic – 1 1/8 – 5:13 pm ET
BetPTC.com Selections = #2 – John Jones / #9 – Clubman / #11 – Ghost Bay
#2 – John Jones = Speedy son of Smarty Jones is making his 2nd start of 2017. The last race was 6f on the turf and looks like a perfect prep. Stretching back out to 1 1/8 should not be a bad thing as he is 2/2 ITM going this far. Jevian Toledo in the irons and trainer Lacey Gaudet does well in non-graded stakes. #9 – Clubman = Sheldon Russell in the saddle as he is looking to make it 4-in-a-row. His runner owns a glowing bullet work as he makes his return to the races off a 57 day rest. #11 – Ghost Bay = Horacio Karamanos in the driver’s seat for this son of Ghostzapper. The barn is making the turf – dirt switch where they score 17% and 7/12 ITM over the course. He has a solid late run and will try and get in the game when they turn for home.
