He was seven wide and moving quickly and turns back in distance today. Geroux will have him in mid pack waiting to push the button. #4 Global Campaign is the son of Curlin for trainer Stanley Hough. Luis Saez in the irons exiting a strong win in the G3 Peter Pan. Solid morning works and the trainer wins 40% with graded stakes. #6 Bethlehem Road is a son of Quality Road for Dee Curry. He is a perfect 3 for 3 and sports quick speed. He dusted the competition at Parx making the ship in move. Catch him if you can.

Monmouth Park

Race #10 – The G3 Iselin Stakes – 1 1/16 – 5:00 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #6 – Zanotti / #5 – Diamond King / #3 – Runnin’toluvya

#6 Zanotti is a son of Gio Ponti for trainer Juan Guerrero with Jorge Vargas in the saddle. This is his 2nd start of the year and had a sprint prep last out to get ready for two turns. He had a place finish last year in the G3 Monmouth Cup as a beaten favorite that day. Vargas is winning 20% on the year and wins 19% with pressing style runners. #5 Diamond King is a son of Quality Road for trainer John Servis. Jose Ortiz aboard the stalker and can be on the pace or just off. Ortiz wins 19% with close up close runners as they make a switch in riders. #3 Runnin’toluvya is a speedy gelding seeking his 11th straight victory shipping in from Charles Town where he wins flag fall to finish. Angel Suarez in the irons and he’ll be tough to catch.

#1 Bigger Picture is from the Mike Maker barn with Jersey Joe Bravo in the saddle. He scored in the G2 Elkhorn at Keeneland and is a stone cold closer. He’s been off two months and is 5 for 9 ITM going the distance. The rider is well acquainted with the New Jersey track. #4 Focus Group is a son of Kitten’s Joy for trainer Chad Brown. 3rd off the layoff and exits the G1 Man O’ War as a beaten favorite. He is 2 for 3 ITM at the distance and a stout closer. Jose Ortiz wins 21% with Brown and 18% on the turf. #6 Zulu Alpha is a son of Street Cry for Mike Maker. Thistledown

BetPTC.com Selections / #7 – Diamond King / #3 – Lone Sailor / #2 – Flame Away

Race #9 – The G3 Ohio Derby – 1 1/8 – 5:10 pm EDT

#7 Diamond King comes in for the John Servis barn winning 24%. Frankie Pennington is back aboard and they are rolling back 3rd off a layoff exiting a bumpy trip in the Preakness. Pennington seems to fit nicely, and this colt has a bullet work in the morning to prepare. He’s a solid runner who has run into trouble for the big races and needs a clean trip today. With a little bit of racing luck, he will play the role of a stalker looking to shine down the lane. #3 Lone Sailor has the services of Irad Ortiz in the saddle for trainer Thom Amoss. He exits the Preakness with a wide trip and a solid 5th place effort against Justify. He’s cutting back in distance and Ortiz gets the return engagement. This runner will come calling at the 1/4 pole under a full head of steam. #2 Flame Away brings Jose Lezcano in the driver’s seat for trainer Mark Casse. This son of Scat Daddy has controlled speed and his only poor outing was in the Kentucky Derby. Lezcano is going to send this colt and try and control the pace. If he’s allowed to dictate the pace to his liking he’ll be tough to reel in.

Belmont

Race #4 – The $100,000 Wild Applause – 1 mile on the turf – 3:09 pm EDT

BetPTC.com Selections / #7 – Got Stormy / #3 – Punked / #2 – Brattata

#7 Got Stormy exits a win in the Penn Oaks. Today she gets a rider switch to John Velasquez for the Mark Casse barn. She is 4/4 ITM going this distance and comes right back off a brief rest. 2018 has been a good year for this gal as she seems to be figuring out the game with every effort. Look for a repeat in the hands of Johnny V. #3 Punked is making her 3rd start off a layoff for the hot Chad Brown barn. She came over from Ireland and got into a little trouble at Keeneland two races back. But after getting 2nd time Lasix she scored with a clean trip at Belmont going 1 1/16 on the turf. Javier Castellano in the irons and he gets the call right back off her last win. Chad Brown scores 27% off the last race win coming back. #2 Brattata has Jose Ortiz as the reinsman going from dirt to turf, and dropping in class may be just what the doctor ordered. Ortiz was at Royal Ascot this week and now he’s back in New York where he holds court. She’s a closer and Ortiz is a tactical rider who knows when to make his move.

Santa Anita

BetPTC.com Selections / #4 American Anthem / #7 Stone Hands / #6 Touching Rainbows

Race  #11 – The G2 San Carlos – 7f – 8:00 pm EDT

#4 American Anthem has the services of Mike Smith for Bob Baffert. They are winning at a 42% clip as a team and make their second start of the 2018 season. This son of Bodemeister is 4/4 ITM going 7 panels and exits off a win at Churchill Downs. 15 days after the winning prep he came right back and scorched a bullet work in 59 flat going 5f. He has the look of a perfect stalker and should be effective coming back to California. #7 Stone Hands comes in for Doug O’Neill and has the barn rider, Mario Gutierrez. He is 8/9 ITM over the track looking for three in a row. They have been going to the winner’s circle at a 25% clip. He should be up close and stalk the leaders. #6 Touching Rainbows has Flavien Prat aboard for Phil D’Amato looking for 5 straight. This is 3rd off the layoff and they win 20% on this move. He is on the stretch out from 6f to 7f and should be closer to the front. Prat is an excellent judge of pace and should send right to the lead.

Horses to Watch – Ed Meyer

All eyes were on Churchill Downs this past Saturday. – Stephen Foster Day under the lights made for a one-of-a-kind show. McCracken returned stong and mature, and if you didn’t enjoy Gun Runner’s romp winning by the largest margin in stakes history. You may want to check your pulse. – Memorial Day, Mother’s Day and now Father’s Day is in the books. That only means one thing. Real summer racing is ready to begin ! – Keep your eyes peeled for these runners who have a good excuse. They’ll return to the races and reward those who back them.  Best of luck from your friends at BetPTC.com !

Santa Anita

Race #6 – #2 – Pacific Wind – G-2 Honeymoon – 1 1/8 on the turf

A very nice daughter of Curlin who won at first asking over the SA turf. She has the look of a good stalker and hails from the barn of Peter Eurton (21%). This was her first start off a brief freshening and stepped up in class. She has hooked the winner the winner Sir Cat Sally twice, and was a troubled third both times. – She has a good late kick but we didn’t get a chance to see it as she was forced to steady off heels into the turn. Once she got it together she made a solid run for the show dough.

Race #9 – #3 – It Tiz Well – G-2 Summertime Oaks – 1 1/16

Mike Smith teamed up with Jerry Hollendorfer, and they know the way to the winner’s circle. She has faced some tough gals, and was (2-1) against the Kentucky Oaks winner Abel Tasman in the G-1 SA Oaks. She was forced to steady in the first turn, and again when she turned for home and tried to squeeze up the inside. – Toss this race, but you’ll have to use her in multi-race exotics to get the value you deserve.

6/17/17

Belterra Park

Race #1 – #6 – Cap’s Tale – 5f on the turf

It was his 3rd start off the layoff shipping in from Churchill Downs. This son of Tale of the Cat was stepping up in class and cutting back in distance. The turf rail was out 18 feet, and he managed a stout closing effort where speed rules the day. “Pede” Prentice split runners gaining quickly and is sure to bring the same game and more next time.

Race #4 – #9 – Sacred Promise – 1 mile on the turf

This son of Super Saver was making his first start on the turf for trainer Kellyn Gorder. He has travelled to Indiana, Turfway, Mahoning Valley and now Belterra. – He broke slowly at the break and circled six wide on a turf course that had the rail set 18 feet out. – I wouldn’t rule out another jump in class, and with a little cleaner trip he’ll give them fits.

Race #5 – #3 — Backsplash – 1 mile on the main track

Perry Ouzts aboard the Cleveland invader who left Thistledown off a win. She is a gamer who likes to run late and ready to ply her trade at Belterra. She bobbled at the start and looked awkward for most of the race. Once she got in gear, she managed a 5 wide run to be a bridesmaid this day. She is one to play right back no matter where she runs.

Ed Meyer

Mother Nature spoiled many track conditions around the nation, but as expected the show goes on. – Horse players are resilient and will capitalize on finding an edge no matter what the track condition. Over the weekend there are a few runners who need some extra attention next time they are entered. – Best of luck this week, and keep your eyes peeled for the next out efforts for the runners mentioned below.

Belterra Park – Race #8 – 7-18-15- #6

Lady Buckeye – Very impressive winner from the Tom Drury barn. This is one you’ll need to keep an eye peeled for.  I would look for Team Drury to find a nice stake at Thistledown, and it wouldn’t surprise many if she comes right back and wins at a square price. Her late turn of foot gave a new definition of acceleration down the lane.
