Race#6 – The G2 Hernandez – 6 1/2f on the turf – 6:30 pm
BetPTC.com Analysis / #1 – Beer Can Man / #3 – Chewing Gum / #5 – Commander
#1 Beer Can Man draws the rail post for Mark Glatt and Flavien Prat. He is 2 for 2 ITM over the SA course and 8 for 9 ITM on the weeds. He is coming off a win at 5f and should be closer today under the turf master Prat. Look for a controlled trip and a hustling move turning for home. His sire Can the Man wins 20% with his turf progeny #3 Chewing Gum makes his 2nd start off the layoff for Bill Mott and Umberto Ripoli. He is a long range closer and will put together a late bid for Rispoli who wins 21% with his turf runners. Ships in from New York and Mott win 19% with runners with a change of surroundings. #5 Commander is a late running son of War Command for Ruben Alvarado and J.J. Hernadez. Comes off a 55 day break and Hernandez wins 22% with late running turf horses.
Race#3 – The G3 Sham – 1 mile – 7:00 pm EST
BetPTC.com Analysis / #1 – Mackinnon / #3 – Newgrange / #4 – Rockefeller
#1 Mackinnon is a late running son of American Pharoah for Doug O’Neill and J.J. Hernadez. Makes the turf to dirt switch and the barn wins 14% on this move. The 57 day break and some sharp works may have him ready to fire first off the shelf. #3 Newgrange should be forwardly placed from the break for Bob Baffert and John Velasquez. A solid maiden win and sharp works may have him ready to step up to the next level. #4 Rockefeller is a speedster for team Baffert and Flavien Prat gets the nod. He ships in from Belmont with two wins from three starts and should be on the engine calling the shots. Rider and trainer are winning 50% of the time the past two months.
Race#8 – The G3 Robert Frankel – 1 1/8 on the turf – 7:30 pm EST
BetPTC.com Analysis / #7 – Luck / #2 – Mucho Unusual / #3 – England’s Rose
#7 Luck late running daughter of Kitten’s Joy for Richard Baltas and Flavien Prat. 2nd off the layoff and Prat wins 26% of his late running turf horses. Her dam Gold Round (IRE) has 14 starters, 12 winners, and all 12 were on the turf. She is regally bred and should put on a good display. #2 Mucho Unusual is a stalker for the Tim Yakteen barn with John Velasquez in the irons. She’ll play the role of the stalker and her dam Not Unusual has 5 starters with 5 winners all on the turf. #3 England’s Rose is a strong late runner from the John Shirreffs barn with Victor Espinoza aboard. 2nd off the layoff and the barn wins 19% with graded stakes. #3 England’s Rose
Race#9 – The G3 La Canada – 1 1/16 – 8:00 pm EST
BetPTC.com Analysis / #5 – Park Avenue / #6 – As Time Goes By / #1 – Moonlight d’ Oro
#5 Park Avenue is a stalker for John Sadker with J.J. Hernadez in the saddle. She is 2 for 2 ITM at SA and has rolled off two wins. The barn wins 22% off the last race win and sports a sharp work coming into the race. Major danger. #6 As Time Goes By is a stalker for Baffert and Flavien Prat, and they exit off a nice win in the G3 Bayakoa. She is 6 for 6 ITM over the course. Baffert and Prat have been putting on a show as a team and should be tough in this affair. #1 Moonlight d’ Oro makes a 3rd off the layoff run getting the rail draw with Mike Smith in the irons. Dick Mandella is the conditioner and knows how to bring them ready. Her last race in the G3 Bayakoa was a big move forward and had to overcome a slow break from the gate.
