Top Horses to Bet on Today – July 10 Stakes Analysis – July 10, 2021

by: Ed Meyer

Race#7 – The G3 Selene – 1 1/16 miles AW – 4:21 pm Selections / #3 – Our Flash Drive / #1 – Gote Go / #2 – California Lily

#3 Our Flash Drive is a daughter of Ghostzapper for Mark Casse who just broke her maiden impressively. Patrick Husbands retains the call and makes her 2nd off the layoff start where the barn wins 16%. The most impressive part for this late runner is she gets added distance and sports a bullet work in the morning. #1 Gote Go hails from the Roger Attfield barn and ships in from CD off a win in allowance company. She makes the turf to dirt switch and is 1 for 2 ITM at Woodbine. Looks for a strong late charge under Steven Bahen in the far turn. #2 California Lily is a speedy daughter of California Chrome for Mark Casse and Rafael Hernandez in the irons. She is 2 for 2 ITM at the oval and makes her 2nd start off a layoff.

Race#9 – The $125,000 Fury Stakes – 7f – 5:22 pm Selections / #5 – Lorena / #4 – Curlin’s Catch / #2 – Owen’s Tour Guide

#5 Lorena is a stalker who has a perfect 2 for 2 record over the Woodbine surface. Off the last race win, she scores 20% for Stuart Simon and Gary Boulanger. The barn wins 22% with nongraded stakes and her dam Negotiable Hat has two starters with two winners to her credit. The rider wins 31% with stalker style runners and she should be the one to beat moving into the next level. #4 Curlin’s Catch is a late runner for Mark Casse and has faced some tough graded company in the states. The drop down in class and moving from the turf to synthetic yields a 30% win rate. Rafael Hernandez gets the nod where he has ridden her in the past. #2 Owen’s Tour is a late runner with a perfect record with Ademar Santos in the saddle. 2nd off the layoff move could signal improvement moving forward.

Gulfstream Park

Race#12 – The $75,000 Carryback – 7f – 6:08 pm Selections / #4 – Moonlight Strike / #5 – Awesome Gerry / #7 – Isolate

#4 Moonlight Strikes is a perfect 2 for 2 at GP and won impressively for Saffie Joseph and Edgard Zayas. He’s been off for 56 days and should get a perfect stalking trip today. Zayas and Joseph are winning 37% as a team the past couple of months. His bullet work and regular pattern give confidence of a top notch performance. #5 Awesome Gerry is a late runner shipping in from CD for Saffie Josep with J.C. Diaz in the saddle. He’s been off 49 days and shows a bullet work in preparation today. #7 Isolate hails from the Katherine Ritvo barn and has Luca Panici in the saddle. He will show speed and cuts back in distance to 7 panels today. The drop in class and regular works give confidence heading to the windows.
