Monmouth Park

Race#11 – The G1 United Nations – 1 3/8 on the turf – 5:12pm Selections / #10 – Tribhuvan / #1 – Arlow / #3 – Serve the King

#10 Tribhuvan is a speedy son of Toronado (IRE) and hails from the Chad Brown barn with Flavien Prat aboard. This is his 3rd race off the layoff and has displayed excellent early foot. Prat wins 28% with early speedrunners and adds Lasix back today. He ships over from Belmont where Chad Brown wins 28% with new surroundings for his stable. I’m looking for a well timed ride from turf wizard Flavien Prat and take the field from coast to coast. #1 Arklow is a late runner making his 2nd start of the year for Brad Cox and Florent Geroux in the irons. A closer who relishes the turf routes should be in an excellent spot from the break as Geroux scores 32% teaming up with Brad Cox. #3 Serve the King also goes to post for Chad Brown and Paco Lopez in the saddle. He’s an honest runner making the next step up the class ladder and the barn wins 27% 2nd time off the layoff. Logical player to complete exotic wagers.

Race#12 – The G1 Haskell Stakes – 1 1/8 miles dirt – 5:47 pm Selections / #4 – Hot Rod Charlie/ #3 – Mandaloun / #1 – Following Sea

#4 Hot Rod Charlie is a son of Oxbow for the Doug O’Neill barn with Flavien Prat in the driver’s seat. He exits the G1 Belmont Stakes and was closer to the pace this day. He ran a game race and should enjoy the cut back in the distance where he can display versatility being able to stalk the pace or grab the lead if the fractions are dawdling. Prat is an excellent judge of pace and won’t allow the race to get away from him. Blinkers off today and the barn wins 18% on this equipment move. #3 Mandaloun is a mid range closer under the guidance of Florent Geroux for Brad Cox. Following the G1 Derby, he had an excellent prep over the track winning the $150k Pegasus. He is 1/1 over the course and Georux is a master of pace. Very dangerous runner. #1 Following Sea is a speedy son of Runhappy for Todd Pletcher and Joel Rosario. The Todd Squad is always ready, and this colt is lightly raced showing good early foot. He is making a class hike getting the acid test and could be a factor into the first turn and beyond.

Del Mar

Race#10 – The G2 San Diego Stakes – 1 1/16 – 9:30 pm Selections / #4 – Royal Ship / #5 – Express Train / #9 – Heywoods Beach

#4 Royal Ship hails from the Richard Mandella stable with Mike Smith in the irons. Since dropping the Lasix he has shown good form. Smith wins 32% of his route races and is a testament to his patient style of riding. Money Mike always keeps plenty in the tank and drops down a class level to strut his stuff after coming off a 47 day break from the races. Maintenance works will have him ready and Smith is a modern day Eddie Arcaro accepting a limited number of mounts who he has confidence in giving their best effort. #5 Express Train is a son of Union Rags and has knocked heads in the past with Royal Ship. Juan Hernandez is in the saddle for John Sheriffs and will play the role of the stalker. They have a 3/3 ITM clip over the surface and this is a plus going to post. He’s been off for 47 days exiting a solid effort in the G1 Gold Cup at SA. Hernandez has made a nice addition to the jockey colony since moving down from northern Caliornia. #9 Heywoods Beach is a late runner for the John Sheriffs barn with Trevor Mccarthy in the driver’s seat. He cuts back in distance off a 47 day break and drops down a class level. Ever since moving from the turf, he has shown glimmers of promise. He’ll have to bring his A game today if he wants to be a part of the payout.
