Emotional Kitten goes from 13th to 1st to win the Mrs. Revere at Churchill
Emotional Kitten had to overcome some trouble on the final turn, and still managed to pass twelve rivals to get up and win the Grade 2 Mrs. Revere Stakes at Churchill Downs. Sent off at odds of 9/2, Emotional Kitten (BetPTC.com 3rd Selection) and Victor Espinoza stayed back early on as Zero Game went out to set the early fractions. Effie Trinket (BetPTC.com 2nd Selection) took the lead into the stretch and opened up a length lead with a furlong to go. But Emotional Kitten had started her big move and she rallied to get up and win by a half length in the final yards. Effie Trinket stayed on for second at odds of 12/1 while 54/1 shot Dance Again rallied up to get third.
River Seven (BetPTC.com 3rd Selection) was able to get a nice garden trip just off the speed and was able to rally late to get the win in the $100,000 Commonwealth Turf Stakes. Ruler of Love (BetPTC.com Top Selection) went out and set the pace at 29/1, but as they arrived at the top of the stretch, he just didn’t have any gas left. Frac Daddy came on to grab the lead, but River Seven eventually wore down Frac Daddy to get up and win by a half a length. Frac Daddy held second Kaigun rounded out the trifecta.
Coachella Valley pulls shocker in the Jammed Lovely Stakes at Woodbine
Coachella Valley was dismissed by many horseplayers in Saturday’s $150,000 Jammed Lovely Stakes at Woodbine. Sent off at odds of 15/1, Coachella Valley was sixth early on as Tequilamockingbird went out to set a moderate pace, with an opening quarter in 23.30 seconds. Silent Treat took over the lead in mid-stretch, but Coachella Valley and Emma-Jayne Wilson came roaring between runners and got up late to win by a half length, holding off a quick rally from favored Checkered Past (BetPTC.com 2nd Selection) who flew late to get second.
Eighttofasttocatch dominant once again at Laurel
Eighttofasttocatch continued his dominance at Laurel again on Saturday as he once again cruised to the most facile of wins in the $100,000 Jennings Handicap. Eighttofasttocatch (BetPTC.com Top Selection) and Forrest Boyce went right to the front and allowed to open up a big lead, as many as 8 lengths down the backstretch. Wild Louis emerged up into the second spot into the stretch, but Eighttofasttocatch still had a ton left and won by six lengths. Bacopa Breeze took the lead early on and never looked back as she took home the Smart Halo Stakes. Bacopa Breeze was slightly dismissed in the wagering at odds of 6/1, and kicked away by two lengths in mid-stretch. Favored Co Cola (BetPTC.com 3rd Selection) burst out of the pack and got up to grab second, but was a half length short of the winner at the wire.
Service For Ten (BetPTC.com 3rd Selection) was able to close from off the pace to win the $100,000 Dave’s Friend Stakes. Service For Ten and Sheldon Russell were content to watch as Guam Typhoon, Rainbow Heir and Fersmiley went out and battled each other hard early on. Service For Ten swept up four wide after the early battle and flew late to get the win by a length and a half. Jessethemarine pulled off the biggest shocker of the day, as at 35/1 odds, he rallied from last early on to get up and win the James Lewis Stakes. Pure Sensation (BetPTC.com Top Selection) went out to the front and when he opened up two lengths in mid-stretch, it looked like he might get the win. But Jessethemarine and Daniel Centeno rallied up the rail and got the win late.
Arethusa pours it on to win the Sharp Cat Stakes
Arethusa was a 10/1 long shot on the tote board, but down the lane she looked like a 1/5 shot as she won the Sharp Cat Stakes at Hollywood Park by eight and one quarter lengths. Arethusa was sixth and last early on as Pleasant Miss (BetPTC.com 2nd Selection) and Be Proud (BetPTC.com 3rd Selection) went off and battled through a moderate early pace battle. But as the two turn distance started to catch up with the two year olds as they came to the stretch, Arethusa had plenty left underneath Corey Nakatani and burst to the lead and opened up to win with ease. Be Proud finished up in second while Saintly Joan (BetPTC.com Longshot) finished up in third.
