Streaming upsets the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet
Streaming was dismissed in the odds, but she certainly didn’t care what her price was as she scored a big win in the $500,000 Hollywood Starlet on Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park. Sent off at odds of 10/1, Streaming and Martin Garcia sat second early on as Taste Like Candy went out to the front. Taste Like Candy led to the quarter pole but Streaming came up right along side her and started to edge away in mid-stretch. Taste Like Candy battled on but Streaming just kept on going and won by a length and a half in the end. Taste Like Candy finished up in second while Untapable (BetPTC.com Top Selection) rallied on to get the third spot. The race favorite Rosalind (BetPTC.com 3rd Selection) finished up in fourth.
The Grade 2 Bayakoa Stakes was the undercard feature and saw Broken Sword cruise to a huge wire to wire score. Broken Sword was sent off at odds of 7/1 and opened up a big four length lead early on in the race through solid fractions. But she must have been loving being all alone, because she just kept on going under Joel Rosario to win by four and one quarter lengths. Fiftyshadesofhay (BetPTC.com Top Selection) rallied from the back of the pack to get up for second while Warren’s Veneda (BetPTC.com 2nd Selection) finished up in third.
Nevada Kid takes home the Claiming Crown Jewel at Gulfstream
The Claiming Crown brings together the top claimers from all over the country and it was Nevada Kid who went wire to wire to take home the biggest race of the day, the $200,000 Claiming Crown Jewel. Sent off at odds of 5/1, Nevada Kid and Luis Saez went right to the front with mild pressure early on from Dominant Jeannes. Those two arrived at the top of the stretch together, but Nevada Kid had plenty left as he edged away down the stretch to win by two and a quarter lengths. Major Marvel (BetPTC.com 2nd Selection) took home the top honors in the Claiming Crown Emerald as he sat just off the leader early and took command late to win by a length and a half. Point Finish incorporated a similar winning style in the Iron Horse as he was second early on behind Whatthecatdrugin (BetPTC.com Top Selection). Point Finish came up to grab the lead at the top of the stretch and never looked back, winning by four lengths over Francois (BetPTC.com 3rd Selection) who ran second.
Deannaallen’skitten had to make up twelve lengths in the final half mile as she rallied to get the win in the Claiming Crown Tiara. Sent off at odds of 4/5, Deannaallen’skitten (BetPTC.com Top Selection) was tenth early on, with only Rock on Baby behind her. But she came with a six wide sweeping move into the lane and took command late before holding off Rock on Baby to get the win. Goodtimehadbyall turned the Rapid Transit into a procession as he drove past all his rivals in the final furlong to win by four and a half lengths over Ghost is Clear.
Ribo Bobo (BetPTC.com Top Selection) cruised to a very facile win in the Claiming Crown Express as he never got pushed and won by two and a half lengths. Never Stop Looking (BetPTC.com 3rd Selection) rallied up into the second spot while JB’s Unc (BetPTC.com 2nd Selection) held onto the third spot. Centrique (BetPTC.com 2nd Selection) took home the top honors in the Glass Slipper as she blew past One Fast Frog at the top of the stretch and edged clear to win by a length and a quarter over a late closing Lexington Pearl. Carolina Lizard pulled off the biggest shocker of the day when she dueled with Courtney Ryan for nearly the entire mile and one sixteenth to win the Iron Lady Stakes at odds of 34/1.
Cool Cowboy all the way in the Inaugural at Tampa Bay Downs
Cool Cowboy went right to the front and never looked back as he dominated the $100,000 Inaugural Stakes on Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs. Sent off at odds of 1/2, Cool Cowboy (BetPTC.com 2nd Selection) blitzed through an opening quarter in 21.67 so that he and Eduardo Perez could get the lead. They extended the lead at the quarter pole and kept extending it down the stretch, winning by three and one half lengths in the end. Early Entry (BetPTC.com Longshot) burst out of the pack and got up into the second spot at 9/1 while Trisha’s Trove finished third at 64/1.
My Sweet Dove (BetPTC.com 3rd Selection) also went wire to wire as she took home the Sandpiper Stakes. Sent off at odds of 5/1, My Sweet Dove and Fernando De La Cruz burst out to the early and didn’t really receive any early pressure. De La Cruz got her to kick away a little bit at the top of the stretch just as favored Enquete (BetPTC.com Top Selection) started to get going. My Sweet Dove found the finish line though, a half length in front of Enquete.
